Avalanche bags

ANY bag is better than NO bag... Find one that fits your budget and buy it. If you ever need it, you will be happy you spent the extra money on it.

I personally have 1 BCA and an older ABS. Both work great. If you take care of them, they will last forever

I have had the BCA Throttle bag for almost a couple seasons now and am very happy with the comfort and room. Like the fit way better than the Float 30 I had before it.

Below are the most popular small airbags that we sell.

BCA Float Throttle
SnowPulse Highmark Pitch
ABS Powder SB15

The ABS uses compressed nitrogen and has two airbags, whereas the BCA and the SnowPulse each have a single airbag and uses compressed air.

Does The ABS bag have an outside pouch , I use a HMK backpack no and like the external pouch to slide in shovel? looking for that same option? What are the pros /cons on nitrogen vs air? I,m sure all this has been discussed , I,m just getting informed thanks

From what I've read nitrogen works better in the cold temps but harder to find a place to refill. People that fly with them have to fly with them empty and refill at their destination. Since most snowmobilers are going to drive to their destination it's not likely as big of an issue.

Great info, And thanks K2 , good read. after researching it looks like No one actually make a sledders specific pack with webbing on outside for your wet shovel and handle like the HMK pack has..

Rob Kincaid has a you tube video about what to pack for mt. Survival. It's actually a Snowest films video. He has a ABS from the looks of it that's designed for snowmobilers. Not sure if its just a bag or a avy pack. Very informative. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mo2XTMhRm78

ABS Powder SB15 is designed for snowmobile use and supposedly can hold the shovel inside or outside.

As can the SB5, which is what I run.

I prefer the SB-xx/ external carry packs, but another option to think about is the Dakine signal... it's a pack that has improved dakine style organization, and an "internal" but separate snow tools pocket.

The Dakine keeps the tools inside & a bit quicker to access, but yet keeps them away from the rest of your stuff. I like the idea of having a pouch that holds probe, shovel & saw, so I don't have to poke my saw back into my goggles or gloves when I shove it back in the pack.

I like keeping my shovel /bungee outside and not putting a icy wet shovel inside then you get mildew. Seems I use them allot pulling my buddys out all day long.Lol. I run a 3 inch and seldom need it!The ABS looks pretty nice

The PITCH airbag from HIGHMARK by SnowPulse is a great small pack. Quality construction and multiple adjustment points make this a great fitting and comfortable pack for a variety of people varying in size. There is designated internal shovel blade, handle, and probe storage as well as an external shovel handle storage for longer handles. We have been demoing these units to Mountain Skillz our clients/students throughout this season and the consistent response has been, "So comfortable, I forgot I was wearing it."

Always happy to answer any questions.

Isn there an external rear shovel mount?

Isn there an external rear shovel mount?

Yes for the handle, no for the blade. There is a designated pouch on the inside for the shovel blade. If you look closely at the bottom picture, the blade storage is on the inside of the outer portion of the bag under the handle and probe.
