Avalanche backpack what to buy?

Hi all, new to snowwest and liking it a lot so far. Need some input/advice about avi packs. I've been reading a lot about them and I believe I just have to make a decision. I want one as a safety fall back, besides making smart and safe choices on the mountain, but I really don't know what to buy. First off I've heard some negative feedback on the compressed air models (BCA) vs. the nitrogen models. Is there really a risk of lines freezing up with air models and the bags not properly inflating? Second, are two air chambers better/safer than one? Is having a similar model to the group you're riding with smart so there are numerous extra refill tanks? I'd like to get an ABS bag but they are harder to find used and more expensive. Is one really better than the next? Thanks

I chose the ABS 15L escape, not too bulky, big enough for me, not the lightest, bought it used for 600 bucks. I like the idea of two bags and nitrogen, hoping to never use it, but if I do I want to be confident it will fire. Nothing bad to say about other systems, they all have good features, if I was going to pay full retail I'd like to have the ABS Vario, gives you options on pack size.

The ABS Vario is a great backpack. Its got the 2 bag design that allows you more freedom to ride your sled with it activated. This allows you a better chance to get to safety and it doesnt interfere with your view or restrict head movement.

But the thing that stands out to me is you can interchange the actual pack part of the bag. So one day you can ride with a 5L. And the next you can ride with a 40L.

Only drawback is price.
