Fellow Sleadheads,
BRP is stepping up again this year with another FREE Avalanche Awareness Class with Mike Duffy.
November 15th again down at Driven Powersports 6:00 pm.
Casper
For those who were with us last years class Mike was great with this class and gave everyone a better education on the dangers of avalanches.
We had a great turn out last year (50+) and I hope that we can be about the same size.
Since we had such a big turn out last year, I have asked Mike if we could do just a quick refresher on the "Intro class" and go into the next level of Avalanche education.
Here is what we want to cover on this years class.
Progression of riding through the day from less danger to more dangerous prone areas.
-Equipment check. See what your partners are carrying and if its working.
-Rescue skills. Rescue leadership.
-Scenario problem solving in groups. Written problems are given to each group and they need to solve. This is usually a big hit. Other groups give feedback. Good to do towards end of the class.
-Beacon check. Walk-by test. Switching to search mode. Search patterns.
-Airbag deploy,refill and repacking.
-Case studies on avalanche accidents and rescues. Looking at cases and reviewing what went right and what could have been done differently.
As you can see we will be going over a lot of new and very important things and a few things that we all just take for granted.
I highly recommend everyone to come and join us for this class.
You can never have to much training on Avalanche Awareness.
Space will be somewhat limited (50-60) so please get signed up ASAP to assure yourself a spot.
Call Driven Powersports at 307-237-7680 and get your name on the list.
Refreshments and some finger food will on hand to munch on..
Thanks everyone
See you there.
