Avalanche Airbag attached to Snowmobile Video

Well it looks like I found my next purchase. That is pretty cool how it can keep that sled floating on top when who knows where the other one went.

Good Vid. It's amazing when you can actually follow an object like that and get a better feel of the speed and power generated by the moving snow. What a feeling that would be to get caught up in that.

wow is an understatement.would have been nice to have seen where the other one went

The Avi Vest attachment for the rider is definately going to be a MUST in our business now. I'm going to order up quite a few of them just to have for all the groups of riders. Everyone should seriously look into them.

As for the sled bag, good little invention unfortunately how many riders are really going to be climbing chutes with that great big thing attached to their sled, and where would it go really?? In my opinion, screw the sled.. The snow will eventually melt and you can go back and find it. But the Avi Vest bag attachment, that is the greatest thing i've seen since the Beacon.

So where did the other sled end up?? In other words, did the bag really keep the sled afloat or just easier to see than the other. Seems obvious but thought I should ask the quesion.

Is the Avi Vest out yet for purchase?

Is the Avi Vest out yet for purchase?

There is a sore on the video site, I didn't check it out but i'd imagine so, the date on the research videos was a while ago but i'm not sure.. I'm definately going to check into it more..

The sled pack looks like it has a tether basically tied to the sled so you can locate it.. didn't look like it stayed afloat too well like the human vest did. I dunno, i'm sure they will put out more info as testing progresses and research is modified

Just checked the store out, says its coming soon. I signed up for their mailing list so when it is available for purchase I will know.

If you read the warnings about it tho it looks like the equipment used to design and make the pack function can almost be dangerous if used improperly.. you'll have to read it to see.

Still, it would be a very smart decision if everything works out and I'm almost willing to bet that your chances of surviving an avalanch will be well over 75%

You can really tell that it was building up some speed! plus looks like it hit a couple obastacles down the main slope. What kinda shape was sled in after those hits??

There are 2 different reasons to "float" your snowmobile in an avalanche.

First of all it puts your machine on top of the snow after a slide so you can use it to get out of the mountains. It would be ironic to survive an avalanche and then die of exposure because you couldn't get back out of the woods.

The second reason the avalanche airbag is good for your sled is because it keeps your machine from rolling and cartwheeling down the hill. This keeps your snowmobile from killing you inside the slide, and it keeps your snowmobile in one piece.
