avalanch death in okanogan (harts pass)

man ..only 15 minutes to get to him...heroic effort..so deadly and unforgiving these avalances.. 15 minutes buried...in our stupidity that seems a short time..survivable...we are at such the mercy of nature...prayers for strength for family and friends.

This site is peppered with these incidents right now. It's sickening. Stay off the hills.

Hey guys,
It is to early in the season for this, all we can do is try and be as careful as possible. But with the (when are people going to learn) comments, you don't have to be stupid to be caught in an avy. There were avy's in Salmon La' sac and Skate creek, WA last year that I saw after words, and if you were just riding down the trail on your way up you would have been wiped out and wouldn't of had any idea it was coming. so it's not always the guy's on the hills. It is scary but it is part of the sport.

Not to be a downer because I feel terrible for the family and everyone involved, but in response, avy reports tell us that when the danger is HIGH, naturally triggered avys are probable. So when the avy reports says that the danger is high, don't expose yourself to ANY possible avy terrain. It takes some self control, but it is worth it. Again my condolences to the family, this was in my backyard.

Feeling for the Family and Friends............its a tragic loss to our awesome sport.......stay safe everyone.......

It's NOT too early in the season for this...It's very tragic and very sad...BUT it IS the season. This is the time of year when they seem to happen the most. New snow and a new season...eager to hit fresh snow...bad approach to bad conditions.

I hope the families are able to heal.

They were ridding with us and we decided to head home and about 10 min after we left they decided to stay and go to the shoots that we were staying out. It came down and he tride to out run it win it hit the back of his sled and shot him off and baride him about 5 feet or so down. We went back and got his sled today. He was a nice guy.
RIP
