av fuel

riding 5--7000 ft
i have a 2010 dragon bd pumpgas kit w/mini intercooler and ebc

i have been running straight 100ll at 6lbs for the most part while getting dialed in
i turned it up to 10-12lbs for a few pulls and no sign of det

i would think you could be safe at 8 to 12 lbs at your elevation

if you need more info i would call Justin @ Code Red Performance
or
Justin @ Silber Turbos

Run 6500-10kfeet on updated 09 dragon. 100% av 100octane fuel. How much boost can I run before getting in trouble?

You have the 2010 update including head correct? Are you running the 2009 flash? IF you are running 2010 head and the 2009 flash you can run 14lbs without det. I am running 2010 head with the 2009 flash, EBC ada, mini intercooler and I have run 12 lbs on 50% av to 91 pump with ethanol. 6000-9500' I had a boost leak from by throttle body boots so my turbo was maxed out and I was seeing charge temps of 220 and still no signs of det. Got the leak fixed and the charge temps are now 150-160 at 10 lbs. My understanding if you have the 2010 update including the flash the det sensor is more sensitive and may come on prematurely causing the sled to fall on its face. 2009 flash is not as sensitive but it it detects onset of det it will retard the timing cause a bog, but not put you over the bars. If you are running straight AVGAS at that elevation I would think you would see the limits of the turbo before det. So for me I run 50% mix 8-10 lbs all day long and full pulls at 12 with no signs of det. The good thing of the 2010 head is its such low compression that you are far from det with a turbo. I am running like 92 psi a side on the compression so I bet I could run 8-10 lbs on pump gas at 6-9k, not that I am going to try that. I was running straight AVGAS but was having problems with it idling when I got up to 9,000'. When I got to 7500 and lower it idled fine. So I switch to 50 mix and now it runs great.

10 psi a 6500 feet should be safe with av fuel. 10 psi is a nice number, reeds seem to last longer and there is just less drive train problems

I would not trust having the light go off on the dash to let me know I have a pinging engine. Some guy are running 14 # on av gas, the only way that is going to fly is the ecu is detecting knock and pulling a wack of timing.

Looking at the pistons with a borescope after a good boosted pull will tell you what is happening providing the detto was enough to pit them.

The new pro seams to be sensitive to deto I think this is partially due to the ecu letting you know when it is pulling timing and adding fuel.

Just my speculation on this stuff

Just got me 100 ll av fuel and was told octane rating is 130 give or take. Any truth in that? ?
Partial truth in the fact that it's mon value is higher than 100. Mon value is 105 on avgas. Avgas works great and is consitent in its octane. Some race gas is hit and miss but you won't go wrong with avgas.

I did find another mon test of 100ll that shows 100.5. Third post down...the test using the atsm D2699/D2700 method. This is the same method for auto/race fuel as I understand.
