This brings their intelligence into question.
I have an opinion regarding this, however the last time I shared an opinion of one of the royalty @ Harris I was reprimanded, so I will let that one be.

I would absolutely consider page layout a priority in forum management.
Largest difference in $1 a month ad scam is that it allows you to surf on your phone with a single scroll. No side to side and zoom in and out needed.
Premium member perk proposal----
No additional fee for ad harassment reduction.
This can be accomplished cleanly and easily by selling horizontal banners only. (ie upgrade to premium member banner)
No more side margin ads!!!!
No more non-sled related ads in member section.
This would allow vendors and customers to benefit from each other and Harris' still get their $. Members can then put their $ into the vendors pocket instead of paying to make the forum look the way it should anyway.
Lastly, place a sample topic in the nonmembers area that allows them to view the new and improved members site.
