Hey guys. Looking to sell my 99 yamaha kodiak 400, manual 5-speed, (I'm sick of shifting), full time 4x4, winch with roller fairlead, camo body covers, 2" reciever, Moose handguards & floor boards, rear fender protectors with adj pegs for passenger, newer ITP Mud Lites, etc. What is a fair price to ask? Odometer was broke when I got it, small oil leak at base gasket, minor scratches, the normal wear and tear, etc. And yes it does need washed up, just havn't had time to do it.

Now for a replacement--- I want to stay in the 4-500 range, auto trans, selectable 4x4, steel racks, (don't like the composite one's). Use it for hunting, yard work, riding mtns. etc. No dunes or racing stuff.

I don't care for the Sportsman's, so I have looked at the following--

09 Arctic Cat 500 4x4 (price looks good)
Suzuki King Quad 400AS (good reliable motors here)
Yamaha Grizzly 450 auto
Don't know anything about Can-Am other than the price looks higher than the rest.

Any insight and help is much appreciated, bullfrog

The can ams are nice but are pricey. I really like the sportsmans.

But out of your list i'd pick the Cat

Even up to the 600cc wouldn't hurt, just can't justify burning the extra gas with the big cc's for what I do.

Hey Sawyer, what yr and such on your sportsman do you have and what do you like about it? Other buddies around here don't have a lot of positive things to say about theirs, just neutral is what I hear, no big +'s. Thanks, froggy.

Frog, We have 400 auto Suz and 500 manual, Love them they both have the full metal racks on them and are camo. The 400 auto feels like its down on the power but even hauling 2 people and 5 dozen decoys 2 shot guns a cooler with lunch and a couple of spinner decoys its right there with the 500 all day long. Ill be back in that neck of the woods the 2 through the 9 maybe we can work something out for a test ride on them. Nice thing about the Suz, they have a hi and low set of gears, plus selectable 2 or 4 wheel drive also on the auto the shifter is up by your right knee witch is retard proof when others are riding it.

Bubba, maybe I can slip away from the FRIGGEN family reunion chit for a couple hrs. The 4th and 5th of July are taken up, but maybe I can find time to check out your wheelers, test drives and real world experience is what the wife and I are after. Thanks for the offer and the info. Let me know what works for ya. froggy.

king quad, if the 450 is anything like the 700. brother inlaw has the 700 and i love it, i have an 03 660 griz and a rhino and would have the king quad over the grizzly any day.

Yea, I'm leaning toward the King Quads, since my dad has 2 dating back to the 88', and the 92' models, and they run like a raped ape!!! Even thought they are only the 250cc range, I can't believe they lasted the "farm life", as in the mexican's useing them for pipe moving, (and who knows what the he!! else), and he still has them to this day. I love the Suz motors, weather quads or Cat's. Indestructable motors!!!!

Any ideas what my Kodiak is worth? Thanks fellas. froggy.

Just outta curiosity, I was looking at Can-Am, Polaris, Yamaha and Arctic Cat ATV's .... the Can-Am Outlander 800 doesn't have MSRP listed on it's website...

Anyone know what MSRP for an Outlander is?

I saw the Polaris Sportsman 800's were a little less than the Yamahas, but the Arctic Cat Thundercat ATV was like $11,200 :eek::eek:

The Grizz or King Quad are exelent choices. Don't know if you want IRS, if not give the Honda Rubicon a look, very solid machine, although a little dated.

That's kinda the whole reason I am looking at getting a utility ATV.

I have a little sport quad which is fun and it's surprising where all you can take it, but that solid axle just isn't good for rocks at all.

I'd like to get a utility ATV with IRS for mountains and keep the sport quad for the dirt around town and whatnot ...

The new 800R Outlander 1 seat regular is $8949.... XT (diff rims/rubber,3000lbs winch, front/back bumper, hand guards) $9999. Heard the reg outtie goin for $8700. Its went up as well, but a far cry from the Tcat1000 and more power.

When i bought my Renegade i thought i would use both my sport quad and the Renegade... but once i started using the Renegade my sport quad never got used... lol Can go mud bogging one day and the next go play with the sport bikes.

The best of both worlds :)

if you have the money go for the 800 outlander there AMAZING! torque every where and enough power to pull the moon closer! screw chuck norris causing the tides to go up and down the outlander makes them do it!

but if you like black smoke then go for the 700 arctic cat diesel atv :D i want one

Frog might be able to get them up your way on mon or tues, since I wanna get up on fall river while Im home, we have 3 king quads and I would pick them over anything out there. Have riden yammies poos and the hondas and I like the suz the best haven't had a chance to get on the can ams yet. The 500 IMO are where its at. We have a 98 that is work horse and a half, then the 07 pulls like a train and tops out at 66 Love them.

I'm kinda partial to my Grizz. '02 660 IRS with a 700 big bore, ported, larger SS valves, clutch kit, ITP mudlites, ITP wheels, warn winch.... $3500. She runs like a motha for the price. Of course a guy could spend between $7500-$10k to try and beat it.
