Looking to go to the GJ area to ride bikes and turn the women folk loose on the side by sides.

The can play in the desert to their little hearts content. Me and a buddy want to ride single track, neither of us are into the desert scene. Somebody posted a vid a while back of a killer trail by Montrose.

Anyways, can you please share some good trails? I'm getting awfully bored. The snow turned again in just two days of sunshine. :(

Snow wasn't all that bad yesterday. Definitely have had a lot worse this time of year. Good couple weeks left for sure.

C'mon PJ, that dirt will be there in June. Get that snow now! I've been to Rabbit Valley and it is pretty cool. But that is more of the desert scene.

That was on the 25th JAW. I'm a snow snob and if the snow isn't ideal for ME, then I'd rather do something else.

We are looking at going down there in April. As for sledding, I'll go if we get a decent snowfall. If not, I have lots of other things I need to get done. I'm sure I can find some good stuff on RE this weekend but the forecast doesn't look so hot.

All single tracks around here (GJ) are either:

A - desert

or

B - still covered in 3 feet of snow

Take your pick.

And they will still be that way in April. And May.

About Memorial Day the trails up in the high country start to open up. And then you can start riding stuff that isn't desert. Until then, chase the snowstorms or ride in the desert.

Rabbit Valley just before the Utah border has some nice single track. (desert) There is a great single track along the rim of the Black Canyon up by Montrose (desert). There is an awesome single track on the Uncompahgre Plateau out of Montrose in Spring Creek Canyon (3 feet of snow) Anyway you can start to get the idea.

I don't mind the desert ST riding. I am not about the riding that goes on out past the airport. I have found nothing too exciting there. I was looking at the Plateau around the 25th of April. Maybe I don''t know where to go but all I saw was lots of point and shoot hillclimbs. If you have some maps, I'd love some guidance. I can't chase the snow when there isn't any. Our forecast is bleak. Just look at the Radar. There isn't a drop of water registering between here and Asia.

Thanks Ray. I knew that trail was down there, just didn't remember where or the name.

Where do ride mostly in the Spring?

Gotcha. Different definition of desert. The Sidewinder trail out of Montrose is the one I was referring to on the rim of the Black Canyon. Just stop at any cycle shop in Montrose or Delta and they can help you out on getting out there. It's not hard to find just tough to describe on here.

April 25 is still a little early IMO for the plateau. You should definitely check out Rabbit Valley because if I am not mistaken some of that single track goes way over into Utah. And since Rabbit Valley is an exit off I-70 finding it is no problem. And I think there is probably some decent trails for the side by sides out there as well.

The forecast is definitely bleak. I was just reading it and I'm thinking it's crappy riding from here on out barring some spectacular change of events.

Stop at the visitors and convention bureau behind Taco Bell on Horizon Drive exit off I-70 (hang a left and Taco Bell is on your left just after the underpass) for area maps and info. Same exit - hang a right, go out to roundabout, right on H road and BLM is directly on your left - tons of area maps and info as well.
