Attack v Hillclimb position - 05' King Cat

I have been riding for a number of yearsa on my 05 900 King Cat, but had no idea there was a differance in the way the tack is put on. Can someone please explain the differance?
 
depends on the track you have a attack 20?

they are all talk ing about the attack 20 which has 2 different postitions so really depends on the track you running.
 
the track will have a hc and an arrow on it and a pp and a arrow molded into the rubber about center of the track. the lugs have and angle to them and this will make it pack down the snow and lift up the sled in pp or bite into it and dig in hc position so this is it in a nut shell without getting to tecky.
 
The direction the track rotates..........

The tracks in my pic are both the same. The upper track has been run in HC its whole life and has straightend up nicely. The lower is an example of how they come new. HC uses the cupped paddles to climb, PP uses the paddles to lift the sled or pack the snow, therfore using the cupped paddles to stop. -00's

Thats great information!

The only question I have.. I do alot of hill climbing, boondocking, and deep powder riding, but I also do ALOT of skiing. This mean I ride with 2 riders on the sled for drop off. It sounds like I should be using HillClimb and not PP? I know my track looks like the second picture below.
 
I don't know where you live so I can't comment?

I live in western wa. our snow is always heavy. I like the HC position for better traction. The hook up is way better, I have been told. I have never used the PP on my sled. The cons are trenching, I have read. And the braking is not as good. I have no problems with my brakes? Or getting stopped. If you live where the temps are always low, and the snow is always light and fluffy. I might think about the powder position? Good Luck-00's
 
i live in colorado and the snow is always pretty light. I want traction and the ability to go. i know i can get around in powder and see no sleds with the PP position around here. do they even make that type anymore?
 
In that fluffy co snow you will trench like mad with the track in HC. Leave it in PP or get a power claw or turn it to HC and straighten the paddles with heat and some clamps like this.

Not sure I want to buy a new track just because of the position. I thinkit has done pretty weel for me, but it may be worth trying to straighten out. That method looks like it would take ALOT of time. Any other thoughts?

I think is perfect! Too bad I wrecked it. No straightening there, I just rode it! They will straighten just fine, keep the gas on and straighten as you ride! I really like the roostertail when they are new, it keeps people off your butt. Enjoy, -00's
