attac kit

who has used the attac kit and what is you honest opinion? do you think you get get more power by just plain jetting for the conditions?

I found the particular sled I used ATACC on to be more responsive with straight jetting.....even running almost identical EGTs I was never able to make it work as good. Perhaps it had something to do with the huge main jets and richer needle position and trying to atomize a larger fuel droplet???? Just a thought- I have heard similar results from several others.
But it DOES do as advertised as far as keeping a fairly constant mix as altitude changes.
I also had issues with getting fual in all the lines after a hard landing or rolling the sled.....found it more inconvenient than just changing jets (which is rare).

I've had them on two different sleds and although they work fine, like winter brew said, you don't seem to get as good of performance. They always seem to be a little rich. I went two jet sizes down from what was recommended and it help some but still seemed a little sluggish. Some guys say that their's run real strong and love em.

i really liked my atacc, the only complaint is when tipping it on its side the hose on top of the carb would fill up with fuel and flood it out, then ud have to run the sled to get the fuel out of it from being loaded up.

I love the ATACC on my '03 Pro-X, used it everywhere between 1,500 and 13,000 ft. and never touched a thing. Throttle response was always there. It does keep the jetting a tad on the rich side but the HP loss is so small it can't be felt IMO. Mine only loads up a small amount when it's tipped on it's side and stalls(never loads up while carving or anything like that though). Give her a little gas, pull the rope and off you go again.

I hated messing with jetting on my 02 800 RMK, after installing the Attac my sled always felt spot on to me. The only thing I ever had to adjust was the fuel screws when the temp went up from morning to afternoon during spring riding. Holtzman sells a one way check valve for the sensing hose that fills up when the sled is upside down. I never installed one but was always able to get it going again after this happened, just keep pulling the rope till it clears out. I think the installation makes a big difference in how it works, buddy had his done at a shop and it never seemed to work right for him. All the hoses going to the sensor in the airbox from the carbs need to go up with no low spots or leaks. I think this product works as advertized!

I agree, I've seen a couple Holtzman units installed crappy by the same dealer. Most people ditch the instructions by the time they get to the part that the lines need to be pointing straight up the whole way but the proper installation really makes a difference.

I will not run tripple pipes in the mountains on my 01 MM with out an Attac
Nothing but good things to say about them. Again it may be installation issues.

I have one on my 900 1M/KK and it works flawlessly at all elevations. I agree that it all has to do with proper setup and installation location. There are some adjustments that can be made if you are part of the 10% that do notice a difference at different altitudes/temperatures (barometric pressure). You have some adjustment in how quickly it richens/leans the system. I never had to mess with mine in 4 years. Well worth the money if you would rather ride instead of tweak and tune in the field.

well here's a bad review for ya. they go to crap after a few years of use. I bought an 03 800rmk that had an attac on it and it wouldn't run in the mountains at all with that pos on there. Took it off right there in the mountains and it ran better with the 450 mains that were in there than it did with the attac on it. I'll never ever run one again, especially not when it only takes five minutes to swap out jets. If you don't like jetting get powerjets and forget about them.

Had one on a 04 900 Cat and it ran great... never touched a thing while I had it, I'm sure I had close 9000 miles on it, didn't have a speedo. A friend had one on another Cat and it ran great up until one day... it feel on it's face and ran better with it unhooked. Found out the little blue hose was loose at the fitting and he replaced and it ran great again.

I'd do it again...

I have it on one 2000 rmk and with all the mods done to that particular sled it's a great pull and go sled, and with twins, that sled runs really strong. haven't had a lick of problems, but i also have changed the hoses when they start to look like they might start to have a weak spot or run out of length when trimming them back when they start to like they're getting loose

Had one on my 03 900 Cat and it never missed a beat. I rode from 900' in MN to 10,000 out West without touching anything. I think I ran my 450 mains out West. Plugs read perfect.
