Assembling a snowbike -- help appreciated for newbie

Hi All,
Thanks in advance for reading and providing insights.
I happened across an Ad Boiven Explorer snowbike kit -- brand new and cost me next to nothing. I'd interested in getting into the snowbike game. Here are some questions...

1. There are a couple bikes for sale locally? Yamaha yz426, Honda CRF450. Or should I be on the lookout for something else?

2. Are there any additional parts I will need to convert to a snowbike? I assume it uses the same chain?

3. Will I need to change jetting or anything else? I'll be riding at 8000-10000 feet in the Uinta Mountains of UT.

4. What else should I be looking for?

Thanks,
Steve

I would steer way away for the ad bovin...almost kept me from ever riding a snow bike again.... I have a whole set up in Heber Ut for 5k....ready to ride for that area...

Yeah, I just saw your post on ksl. That seems like a really good deal. I've only talked to a few people, but most recommended a 426 or 450, but it looks like you have one with a yz250. Plenty of power to ride around with the, even in the powder?

Give me a ring it will outrun a 426 and older 450 any day of the week... rock solid reliability run in handlebar deep powder ... most people can't set up a 2 stroke for snow to save there life... nine five four five six zero four two eight eight give me a call... this is more of a wife issue and too many bikes than wanting to get rid of it;)

I can’t believe that bike is still for sale! The only reason I have not come up and bought it is the same reason you have for selling it. Wife.

If you are serious about getting into snow biking you will be light years ahead buying a bike like the 250 that's already set up and dialed rather than cobbling together some POS using ancient bikes and obsolete kits. Save yourself a bunch of heartache and misery and buy a good solid set up right out of the chute and spend your time riding not wrenching. There's a reason the Explorer kit is cheap, you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm getting that sense from the more people I talk to / hear from. I got the Explorer kit for nothing, so I thought I'd look into a cheap option by just buying a bike and doing some work. However, I really only do care about the end result (riding).
