Assault vs SKS weight difference?

2018 SKS weight is 443 lbs, the assault is 418 where is the difference of 25 lbs coming from?

From what I can see you have the idler wheels in the back of the SKS (estimate 10 lbs, if any one has the actual weight please chime in), SKS aluminum over structure (estimate 2 lbs difference), both have clicker shocks (assault has needle shocks with bigger shaft so they should be heavier), Assault A-arms should be heavier, both have the chain case, they have different tracks but I would think the Peak track on the assault would be heavier than the 2.4 on the SKS. The only other difference is the front cooler, does the cooler really add 13 plus lbs?

Good point, I am just going off the numbers on Polaris web site, anyone know if the weight quoted there includes the e-start?

I believe regular production SKS models came with E-Start. Only the snow checked SKS models could be bought without E-start.

Yes, 25LBS sounds about right for the e-start system

E-start alone is 23lbs so if the online spec for the SKS includes that, then it makes up the majority of the difference. Dry weight of the front cooler can’t be more than a couple lbs... add in a few extra bogey wheels and you’re there...

He’s right on.

I snowchecked a ‘17 sks to order it without e start. At that point only the bogey wheels and tunnel cooler make it weigh more than the assault RMK.

146 SKS is a Trail sled and has the wide body and tunnel stamped boards. All the added Gadgetry on the flat bars and gas guage would add a few pounds . No lightweight driveshaft and heavy old school brakes .. the Swaybar and torsion spring 1980s skid are very heavy !

Assault RMK is a Pro RMK with better shocks and skid improvements . Has the Powder Trac boards and Carbon Fiber goodies . Real Pro Taper bars and lightweight wiring with switches on the console , coil over skid and 5/8 Needle shocks all the way around .

The 155 SKS has the front cooler and also the extra crossover hose , bogie wheels and mounts weight 4 pounds , Aluminum over structure and bumper , and brake cooler
