I was just wondering if anyone has had the opportunity to compare the newer Walker Evans Needle Shocks that come on the Pro Assault to a set of Walker Evans Shocks (Pro RMK) that have been rebuilt weight specific by Carl’s Cycles ???

try searching, not trying to be a d*ck just saying something might come up because if I remember right a member had his redone and did a decent write up

I did, and it seemed like a lot of the ones I came across pertained to the 09 or 10 Assault shocks. Looking for a comparison on the 2011 models.

Just LOOK in older Posts...

There's like 20 some PAGES of GREAT INFO!!

Gee thanks, I didn't realize there was info on this site.

I did a search, and if you read the previous post, most everything I came across talked about the older 2009, 2010 WE shocks, Which I'm not interested in as they changed the valving in 2011.

X2. I seached assault in the pro ride and only found 5 pages of information, and I couldnt find anything really giving any technical differences in the shocks.

The Assault shocks have a large range of adjustability with the clicker. But they also need a HD snap ring inside the body..running them on a high clicker can damage the stock snap ring. But once dialed in they are great. Note they are also about 1/2, maybe 3/4 inch longer than the RMK shocks.

The RMK shocks can be valved specifically for your weight and riding style but then the only adjustability you have is with the spring preload.

If you are thinking about upgrading to the assault shocks I would really reccomend it, they work great and have a 5/8 shock shaft with added durability.

I have not ridden the re valved pro shocks, but I have ridden the new assault a bunch. The shocks stock for stock are a night and day difference, I'm going to send my pro shocks to Holtz this summer to have them re valved and add the clicker for $175 per shock. They can even do the front track shock too, for the money it's worth a try.

I have the revalved Carl's and I can say for me, they aren't really my style. On hard landings or quick hidden hits, they clap out quick. I'm thinking of putting some needles on and seeing if the length difference is really noticeable. I know I know, it will change all of the geometry bla bla, but it just doesn't seem like it will actually make that big of a difference in the SNOW! I would obviously be running them with a little more sag than the Assaults, but it's the adjustability and bottoming resistance that I'm looking for. Just my opinion here too. If I find some (hint) I will post my observations between the two. Hell, with this sled I wouldn't be afraid to run the wider arms to make it the same geo as the Assaults. These turn that good! So whaddoyathink?

I have the front reservoir added to my assault front track shock and it works very well. I would reccomend it to anyone. It's nice to have a clicker adjustment all the way around.

If you are going to run the assault shocks on the RMK arms, just have the assault shocks shortened half an inch and you will be good. It will steer hard if you run them the way they are.
