so im looking into getting my 09 assault ported.

trying to decide who i should have do it.

anybody have any experience with either carls or slp's work?? is one better than the other?

i would try to continue running pump gas and would be riding at elevations from 1400ft in mn/the up of mi and then out west.

Thanks

Jack has the porting down to a T, I have never been disapointed in any of the port jobs he has done for any of my sleds. I have had porting done to many sleds form the 600 to the 800 and it flat wakes them all up with a big HOLY CHIT. One more thing IMO Carl's custumer service is in the top one percent in the industry, from start to finish.

As far as SLP I have road with guys that have had there port jobs and they seam to run good allso. Never have had the same Mods to ever compare the two, to know if one was better than the other.

thanks suitcase

did have your case ported as well or just the cyl??

noticable diff over the stock set up?

I have a 08 800 Carls done ported, twin piped, head mod, clutching, venting, and re mapped ecu. Runs great all the time never ever any issues. Lots of power, very similar to a single piped 860. I do only ride it at elevation normally. I rode it once for a mile or two in Northern Wi. and found the mapping to be very rich at low elevation but great at high elevation. so take that for what it's worth. Carls service, help, is top notch, no one better for sleds that I have ever found. More people should strive to be like them.

are you running slp twins?? what kinda gas you running at high and low elevations??? how finiky are your pipes? hassle free from the way it sounds?

from what ive read in past posts and heard here i think im going to have carls do it. i dont want to spend the money for the 860 as much as i want to but looking for more power.

No I never had the case port done on the stock motors, only on the Big Bore. just the cylinders, on the stock motors. Always at least go with a single pipe.

If you go with the port and the head work with twins, I believe you will need a race fuel mix.

Ive sean Jacks 800 port work, with the twins and it is impresive. If that is the way you are leaning Rob Heed (F-Bomb) has that set up on his sled. He is a great guy to talk to with tons of knowledge on that set up.

alright thanks suitcase. sounds good

ya i already have the slp sinlge set up. i am however pondering the idea of running twins.

idk how finiky they are. id like to hear a few stories about people running twins.

They take a little time, but there are a lot of people on here including Rob that have put in many many hours on the twins and getting them right. So the learning curve might be a little easier if you could get there imput.

For the little that I got to run my sled last year with SLP twins, Carls cylinder and case porting I am totally sold on Jacks(and his apprentice porters) abilities. The sled rips and has been easy to clutch and not at all like an older twin piped sled. Its not finicky, just sensitive to fuel quality, and ratios. My sled builds RPM on a climb as the pipes build heat, opposite of most other naturally aspirated sleds that lose RPM.
