Are Turbo Sleds More Dangerous?

So I'm a long time Doo rider and have jumped to a Turbo Nytro.. My group has been real carefull in the last few years. Sometimes riding an area without hill climbing at all except to get in and out. But now that I have a Turbo Sled, for sure there is going to be more hill climbing going on. I still have very good restraint but can't help but think these sleds can get you into more trouble, cause it's so tempting to run a big pull and do them more often..

Kind of sounds like you answered your own question.

As horsepower and technology goes up, so do we. Sleds are taking us into areas we only dreamed of a few years ago. Temper the ego with good common sense and ride safe.

I always remember one thing my Father told me years ago about how much more dangerous a 3 wheeler was verses a four wheeler;

"If you put a 3 wheeler and 4 wheeler side by side and don't touch either one. Which one will tip over 1st?"

Remember it's the rider that makes the machine more dangerous, not the other way around!!

Dad is a smart man, and I seam to learn this more the older I get.:rolleyes:

Your going to climb stuff at ease that you doo would have struggled to get half way up.After a little while you start looking at pulls you would never think on a naturally aspirated two stroke going up with fresh.So ya sh!t can happen.Turbos are alot of fun,you'll like it!:beer;

if several different sleds were to go the same height on the hill.would the one that makes the deeper trench be the more dangerous sled?:)

Where are ya on this one David? I think they are just really heavy when you have to bench press them back up a hill for a mile. What do you think David?

I think they are way more dangerous...I just pinched the chit outta my hand sliding the turbo down on the drain pipe. I had some choice words that were not PG13.:D:beer;:beer;

That question is like asking if driving a drag car is more dangerous than your minivan.. of course it is.. just need to be smart about doing it..

I agree with NorthMNSledder, It can't hurt you if it's on the trailer, Its the riders responsibility to plan the pull, and an escape route when/if things go wrong, the sled is an inadament object, it doesn't think for its self

they are way more dangerous than a N/A sled, especially when your starting it for the first time to make sure the oil pump is working correctly and it backfires and spins the impeller backwards slicing your finger! just ask heston about that one;)

First off, look at about the 35 second mark of that video - why are there so many sleds fleeing like ants as the snow comes down. WTF were they parked there for?

As for your question - turbos cause impotence ;-)

Exactly, just cause you have a turbo doesn't mean that 2 lbs of sausage between your ears doesn't apply. It's only as dangerous as the person on it.

I think it is alot safer. I find alot of situations where i can get out of trouble , because of instant track speed. If you dont know how to let off the gas you will kill yourself .

But that goes for a stock sled also , if you are dumb you can hurt yourself in a padded room.

I feel the most safe and comfortable with in my group around the people with the mod sleds.. they seem to know when is when better.

its my buddies on the stock 600 showing off that i worry about!!!
