are there different hooks for pro tapers

they are easy to remove so i was wondering if anyone knows of a different hook that is not as hard and slippery that would fit. i know i can wrap with gell tape or something similar but a differnt hook sounds cleaner

I used to think these new hooks would be a bad change for the bar ends until I bought this sled. The original 45 hooks were pretty good, but I found my hands coming off the ends on a hard off camber landing. The new 90's are much better at keeping my hands on the bar IMO. Maybe use a different glove with a better less slippery palm?? The other solution would be the RSI hooks that allow a long grip over the top. I used those on my D8 with two Polaris IQR left hand grips (lefts are longer than the right), which are a firmer compound than any other grip I've found. Seemed to work very well to keep my hands on the bars in those sketchy conditions.

i see f-bombs sled has no hooks on it at all that might be antoher option, been so long since i've went with out hooks not sure what that would be like at all. western power sports i think has some hook options with various angles and lengths.

I have yet to mess with it but wondering if the older J hooks from the Edge/IQ's would fit in there? I've hooked myself with the 90's pretty good already.

I dont think the edge/iq hooks will fit, thoes bars are made for steel or chromemoly bars. The factory bar its self has a thinner wall than the aluminum pro taper se bar i would think, At least thats the case on the RSI bars i bought. I thought i could swap over hooks but i couldn't. I would think its the same on all aluminum (7/8" bars)? (I think)

I think that the RSI short under-grip hooks and the Ruffian 7" grips are the best option out there...

The grips are awesome.. .nice and tacky... you will go thru a couple of pair per season... but that is a cheap price to pay for awesome grips IMO.

Great quality products!!

Here's what I did:

Ruffian 8" grips - the nubs are a lot taller than the 7" grips. I got them from RSI Racing. 1 each = 1 pair. http://www.rsiracing.com/product_in...d=182&osCsid=461419127ecdc888669eb7a7104348c8

Replace the Dragon hooks with 45* angled hooks. Again, shopped via RSI Racing. I ordered the ones for the tapered aluminum bars. http://www.rsiracing.com/product_info.php?cPath=38&products_id=170

This setup has worked well for me so far. The bulkier 8" grips gives a bigger feel to the bars. If you want the stock feel, then the 7" grips work very well. I also noticed that I loose a little bit of the heat transfer with the 8" grips since there is more air between the nubs.

What Jonce said... the 8's are better IMO... Many like the smaller diameter of the 7's.

Many use glue... I do not... but then again... I use commercial mold release cleaner to clean out the inside of the grips... then I use acetone to clean the bars and install them with the bars at room temp at least.

I prefer the short vs. the long hooks from RSI.

The RSI hooks will make the bars a bit wider (about 2" total)

Yes. SLP makes great hooks for the Pro Taper and they feel alot better than the stock ones, it's nice to be able to roll your hand to switch from your thumb to your fingers to throttle. :face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap

I cut about a 1/2" off the bars and then run the RSI stub hooks, with high powered heaters and the 7" grips. Seems to be the best setup for me. I get more of a secure grip when leaning to one side with this setup.
