I have a nasty leak. It's on a 4630 John Deere. I believe that this is the housing that directs the flow for the shifting? Was wandering how hard is it to pull this of and replace the seal between the frame and this. Heres a pic to tell you what I'm talking about.

so its the ring-o gasket is bad... i think. thats what happen to my tractor stopped moving from last year cuz of nasty leaking out of tranny and took it apart and replaced the ring-o gasket.

do you think u can take it apart by yourself?

by the way, my tractor is Case so i dont know anything about john deere but they look about same

Well if thats all it is, is to pull the bolts and hoses thats holding it to the frame then put the new o ring in I can handle that no problem. I just didn't know if there was different springs or other things in there when I pull that off that I need to worry about. Does anyone know if I need to drop the oil before I unbolt it.

Thanks for the input.

Does anyone know what the mechanical name would be for this so I know what i'm looking for on a parts diagram?
