I want to sell my 04 MC 900 159" and get a 09-10 M8 153 or 162.
Anyone have a great reason not to? Or why I should?
I'm really on the fence on this one.
Thanks for any input.
Ted

I think that the only thing that a guy is really benefiting from are the improvements in handling. I have had little experience with the old 9 motor, but I have to assume that is leaps n bounds above the 900 Poo motor that I am more familiar with. The M chassy along with Poo's new IQ chassy are 2 of the most capable and nimble sleds to date. I guess that you cant count DOO out of the Pic, I just haven't had much seat time to form an educated opinion. I understand that the M1000 is a ripper, but I would like to see how the old 9 motor would make the M chassy fly. Get a new sled, as I always say, ride every one that you are interested in first. $8,000 - $12,000 is alot to spend without any seat time.

I traded an 04 800 off for a 2010 M8 Sno Pro 162". This M8 is WAY more sled than my old one was. Much easier to throw around and loads of power. Remember the M8 has as much power as the M1000 this year, but the Sno Pros are getting hard to find. I bought the last 162" in MN and the Dakotas. Can't wait to get back out to the mountains to ride it. Hopefully will yet before spring planting.

My buddy jumped on my '10 M8 last weekend for a couple of minutes. He's on a 1M. First thing he said when he came back was that he was definitely getting one next season.

i sold my 03 900 and got an 09 m8 in a drag race the 900 would win but even with a 16 wide track my 9 would never follow my m8 on steeper more technical climbs or on the trails or in the trees ive never looked back accept for when the sno drags come to town.

OK...............

Not trying to be a dick, just how it is. I had a 01 800 that ripped but in the steep and deep a m7 would straight hand it to me. I road with a guy that had a 05 900 1m with slp pipe and 35hp shot of nos and if the nos worked he could sometimes go where my slp piped 07 m1000 would. The 09 m1000 stock beats the piped 07.

I have never ridden the 900 cats but for the last 5 years I rode a 02 polaris 800 this year I upgraded to a 07 m8 and i would have to say that I would have to work twice as hard to be able to get to the places I can now.The reason I went to cat is my riding friend has a m7 that was spanking me all the time but now I am able to keep up with him no prob.

I rode a 05 King Cat from new until this year when I replaced it with a m1000. At first The new chassis felt funny, I am still getting used to the sled but I wouldn't want to go back. Power and handling are way better. My opinion, hope it helps.

can only think of 1 reason not to.if you pay around 10k then its only worth about 3k after you trailer it home

I used to ride an 03 1m 151 with a 16x2.5 camo extreem under it, which imo made it twice the sled... Clutched right the sled ripped. I sold it to my dad and bought an 09 m8 the 09 didn't have the snort the 900 did but was nimble enough to play with the hill and would eventually highmark him. When I got the 2010 there is no comparison. He weighs 50 lbs less than I do and in a straight no bullsh!t pull I can still beat him by about 5-6 sled length not to mention the handling is so far better. That was before I put the intake and exhaust on it. Cant ride with him right now because he broke his arm.

Personally, I firmly believe that the M chassis is the way to go and the 2010 is definatly worth the extra money. I would wait until the price drops next year.

I know the M chassis is more forgiving for my lack of skills than the old chassis was!

The biggest thing I noticed going from the 1M chassis to the M, was I wasn't as fatigued at the end of the day.

Also, when I jump back on the old, can't wait to trade back.

I was really hesitant to jump from my King Cat over to the M-chassis every time I rode an M it felt so weird and I spent all my time tipped over up hill. I finally made the jump to an 09 m8 this year and it is absolutely amazing. The fun factor on these sleds is unreal. They are so easy to ride, which is exactly the reason I kept tipping it over up hill but once i found that balance its awesome. Two weeks ago I took my king cat up for a ride while my M got worked on and at the end of the day I felt like I had been beat up cause I had to work so much harder then I had been all year long. Power wise my old sled was still right in there but as far as the ability to boondock around and maneuver the Ms are just awesome.
