Does anyone know if the environmental impact analsis / results have been submitted by California ?

Don't want a month or two delay like last year.

For what project?

All the state Snocats are allocated/issued after the EIA / EIR reports are submitted then 30 day public response period then approved.

I think Terry Harper in Sacramento submits these.

Last year there was a "public reponse" delaying the release of any groomers or grooming.

I'm hearing the grooming at 108 won't start until at least January ,due to EIA:mad:I imagine this is probably statewide?

I finally contacted the NFS groomer for Sequoia and he says they are ready to go and all the submissions are approved except one.

Funding.

Interesting, never knew that the state allocated cat's for grooming purposes. It would also be interesting to see who/which group submitted the comments and what the comments said. Best guess would be some sort of conservancy group...

Last year a group filed a study request on the effects of grooming for extra snow buildup at the end of the blade.

What are the environmental aspects of the extra snow to the pile of snow at the end of a groom and any burms made. Wanted impacts to water / soil / insect and animal . Took over a month to reply.

This is from last season. Just wonder if there is a new new requirement.

Gonna call to see what is going on.

Dear CNSA members,

The Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division of California State Parks has always valued the partnership it has with CNSA. I am writing you in hopes that you can please help us in a very important survey which we need to accomplish during this snow season.

The OHMVR Division supports trailhead plowing, maintenance, and trail grooming in 11 National Forests throughout California. These popular trails and trailheads are used by motorized and non-motorized users for everything from snowmobiling to dog sledding. As part of our ongoing commitment to better meet the needs of the recreating public while ensuring environmental protection, this winter the Division, in partnership with California State University, Sacramento, will be conducting comprehensive visitor surveys at the trailheads and staging areas funded by the OHV Trust Fund. The survey results will improve our ability to target funding where it’s needed and provide data to support California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance. Because the trailheads are located throughout California - from the Klamath and Modoc to the Sierra and Sequoia - this will be a substantial undertaking.

please contact Aaron Freitas at 916-324-1568 / aaronf@parks.ca.gov, or Terry Harper at 916-445-9982 / tharp@parks.ca.gov at the OHMVR Division.

Best,
Daphne

Just talked to Terry Harper.

Says all is on track for the approval and funding of OHV funds for grooming and affiliated programs.

No money issues , no EIA/EIR issues , no known issues to date for the services to be approved early for the season.
