Are Political Campaign Funds Taxible?

Kind of curious for anyone out there that has more knowledge please feel free to enlighten me. I have tried google, ask wikpedia, etc....

1. Are these campaigns run under non profit/ tax free status?
2. What happens to the left over funds? Is this the candidates tax free retierment?
3. If they are tax free why?

Just curious if politicians are getting to keep free money that was donated, and if so why it is not taxible. Thanks for any input.

No, they are not taxed... Off msn money...

Campaign contributions. These contributions are not income to a candidate unless they are diverted to his or her personal use.
