Arctic Cat reverse question

A friend of mine has a 2007 Crossfire 1000. And this year he just put on a 2" track for his trip out west. Well he got it all put together and he said that when he puts it in reverse it makes a "clunking" sound. He said it sounds like metal on metal, like taking a hammer and hitting something metal. I am not sure how the reverse works on an Arctic works. Does something actually move or slide into a different position for reverse? Just thought I would ask to see if anyone has any suggestions for him to look at. Thanks.

On my M8 it does that once and only once when a engage the reverse. Sounds like its not engaging all the way..

So if he takes it back apart and puts it together do you think that could resolve his problem? By taking it apart and putting it back together could that line everything up like it should be? Thanks.

i have both an m-8 and a 1000, clunking when engaging reverse is normal...sometimes it's a little louder than others

just make sure not to pin the throttle until you know its fully engaged

it clunks, and yes sometimes its louder then other times
