I decided to Build my SXV being I have an extra kit now that I have the new TS kit. This is a stock 550 with a fit kit made by J&L Snowhawk here on the forums. I have been running Aprilia's for a couple of years now and have had great luck, thought I would give it a go.

It looks killer man. Give us some numbers.... HP,torque, RPM figures... what's she all about?

They are about 70 hp to the wheel, V Twin 550cc. They had a ruff debut in 07 but I have two of them and learned how to tune and work on them. I can say there is nothing that I have owned that hits as hard as this thing does for a stock bike. Time will tell I'm a little concerned about the weight.
I will post after first ride. ?

There is a KMS Turbo'd machine out there that will be on the snow this winter!!!

that is super freaking nice!!! How is the tranny on that thing? Does it have tight motocross gearing?

Here's a Swedish Aprillia SXV with a home built UFO replica

I love your setup!!!!

First Ride

I was in Cooke City over Thanksgiving and spent one day on the Aprilia and one day on my KTM 450 SXF. I can say that the Ape was more fun with incredible torque and power. I could tell it was heavier but it didn't bother me. Both bikes are stock and have long track kits. The gearing worked perfect the first gear is not as tall as the KTM and was easier to start out and go slow when needed. I found I could run second and third quite a bit compared to mostly second in the KTM. Once the Ape was hooked up just hold it wide open and it would tractor around running about 8500-9000 RPM. I backed out a couple of times thinking I was going to get stuck then I just went for it and it would just not quit.
I had a great time with and it will stay in my stable.:face-icon-small-hap

It looks great. I love the fact that you are breaking the mold that a snowbike has to be a single cylinder dirt bike. Way to go! I will be watching your continued posts with great interest.

Yup, good work prototyping the v twin. If my 163" longtrack works on my KTM, I'd imagine the Ape would be even better. Been staring at my 950 Super Enduro's V Twin for a while now............
