Apex MTX drop bracket adjustment

Hey guys,

So I installed my own under tunnel exhaust on my MPI Apex and the track is hitting the outlet of the canister. Bad enough to have partially broke most lugs off down the middle.

The factory drop brackets have 3 holes on them. Can I lower my track location to a lower hole on the drop bracket? What problems will this cause besides making a more aggressive attack angle? I'm also going to install a deflector to deflect the track if it hits the exhaust. Good thing the $hitty Maverick tracks are cheap!

Thanks

Thanks buddy but I've got one on the way! I'm hoping lowering the track on the drop brackets will be ok because I don't want to have to put a different exhaust on. Too much work...lol

Anyone have input?

its will increase your center of gravity making it slightly tippier but you have more deep snow clearance.

Should be less of a potential problem. It will also help decrease your approach angle too.

I would think dropping the track further down the drop bracket would increase the approach angle. Am I missing something? Thanks.

It will also move more weight to the front end. How big of "homemade" muffler did you put in there? There is plenty of room to put a pipe in there off a bike. Eric

Its a MIG carbon fiber can from a Yamaha R1 but I ran the exhaust further back in the tunnel. There is clearance between the track and exhaust when the suspension is fully compressed but the track ballooning/deflection causes slapping.

Here's a link to my Totally Yamaha thread on the exhaust install:

Could you just tighten the track to eliminate enough of the balooning?

I'm hoping between dropping the track and running the track a bit tighter I can eliminate the track from hitting.

I never did think about more weight being on the front end, that sucks as that's the last thing I want on a supercharged Yammy. :face-icon-small-fro

if you drop the rear of the suspension to the lower hole you will have to loosen the limiter strap to get the skid level making your approach angle slightly steeper. this also keeps the front weight down.

I run my Apex in the lowest drop bracket hole all the time cause it gives you the best running board clearance in the snow. I run my limiters at about the third hole up and this combo gives a great attack angle and limits the front end coming up and trenching. I fabbed up an under tunnel exhaust for mine this year but I didnt bother with putting a glasspack under there, it looked a little too tight. No problems with track clearance on my setup but my outlet is even with the track shield underneath the tunnel.

Are you running any exhaust on her?

I cut the pipe where it goes into the stock muffler and welded on a turndown there. Saved a ton of weight and sounds good too.
