what has to be done to an apex mtx with rear mount turbo to put a 3inch track on and what is the down side to the changes?

Drop and roll , cut and or move cooler back or get a u cooler, tunnel extension .I personally would go 174 2.5. I'm assuming you have the stock tunnel?

great looking to see how much it drops and moves back .
both sides would be great so i have a idea what is changed.
did you drop and move back the suspension or is it needed?
i have a rear mount turbo so i might have no choice

Heres 2 more to kinda show you the approach angle. This is just a 2.5" I was going to throw on a 3" this summer but my money went into the engine. Maybe next summer. My try out a new peak 2.5 tho.

Just installed a Avid chain case on my apex. You will have to move the suspension down and back. From what Rob told me and what I measured it moved down one inch and back one inch. With my three inch track I have one inch in the closest spot.

The VE drop n roll is more like 1" drop and 2.75" back. Moves the Jackshaft down 2.75" and back about 1/2" then moves the driveshaft about 1" down and 2.75" back

Something to always consider when moving a stock chain case around, is the stock center to center distance of the case its self. You will need a minimum of 7.1" center to center distance for a 3" track to clear the jackshaft, using a 7 tooth driver. If the stock case has a 7.25" center to center distance, you have .25" clearance. This measurement will always be the same no matter how much you drop and roll the case itself in the tunnel.

does anyone know the center to center on a apex chain case? just wondering how tight i will have to keep the track if i do a drop and roll with the stock chain case.

Just went out and measured mine. Looks to be exactly 7" Center to Center. That being said i measured the distance between my track and jackshaft. Right at 1" So even going to a 3" track that leaves 1/2" clearance between the track and jackshaft. this is with 7 tooth Avid drivers and VE drop n roll stock 07 MTX chaincase.

Here is a picture of an apex case. The bearing holes are approximatley 2". Center to center about 7". Center of the drive axle to the outer edge of the 1" jackshaft 6.5" approximately. Make you measurement from that.
