Apex mountain gearing change

The stock gearing on an 2009 apex mountain according to yamaha is 20/40. If I were to change it to 17/40 so she can wheelie much easier what would I have to do in order to make that change?

17 is a very small, weak, and inefficient gear. try 19-41/42 wold be a better choice.

Okay would that make her wheelie easier then stock gearing?

not sure mine is stock gearing with 300hp so i dont really have a problem, maybe someone else with a stock machine can chime in and let you knoe if it helps to gear down, i think the clutching would be a big factor in this aswell.

if u just want to wheelie and look cool. make the rear suspension torsion springs set on soft and the center shock set stiff. maybe ditch the limiter straps if its worth the risk of stabbing a track:face-icon-small-fro

gearing

just dropping the gear one tooth on the top helps quite a bit for a stocker. helps her hold rs. as far as wheelie- I dont think a gear change is going to do that much to help. a clutch kit would work better in my opinion.

Doing a wheelie on a apex mtn could be harder than you think. Remember its a 163" track and I would think you would need to drop front end weight and add more hp to work. Why would you want to make it wheelie anyway?? would just make it steer like s****t.

buy a turbo if you want to wheelie without one you just pulling the skis off the snow a few inches.
