Apex front shocks

I'm trying to stiffen the preload on the front shock springs on my Apex with stock shocks. I can't get the preload rings to move either way and can't seperate the lock ring from the other one, I've wapped it good with a hammer and punch and neither side will move, I even put some lube on the threads. Anybody ever have this problem and what did you do to fix it. Thanks.

take the weight off the front end.....should be able to spin them by hand

I used special tools from some ohlins i bought a couple of years ago, despite those it took some muscle, it was as they had seized with each other!

i got this exact same problem with my rx-1 shock, i used a pipewrench and a lot of lub. Thread were shot

I got them. I had the weight off the front from the start, I could spin the springs but the rings were stuck. After letting the lube soak in a while they came loose and I was able to spin the preload rings real easy. I tightened them all the way up. Lube and patience. I swapped the Gen2 skis back to the stockers while it was up, the Gen2's can go back on next winter. Thanks.

I don't know if this mattered any, but at first I was using a dead blow hammer, I got them loose with a heavy rubber hammer.
