Any major Differences in the Apex over the last few years? Always been a Doo guy so never really payed attention. Thinking a Stock Apex would be a good sled for the wife. Really only interested in 06+

The Apex came out in 06, before that it was an RX1. Anyway, 06-09 apex there are very few changes. All minor stuff like handle bar design, rear rack, paint and decals. If you look on yamahas web site you can compare 09's to other years from the past to see any changes. Eric

Apex Mnt. for the WIFE.....hmm

Why the Apex Mnt. for the wife? I own and ride one without boost and it would be the last one I'd buy for my wife, not trying to discourage you, just brutally honest. I thought I was a decent rider until I bought this sled, takes some muscle and relearning to be comfortable/confident and a solid rider on an Apex Mnt. in stock form. Great power and torque but it is heavy no way around that. Doesn't feel like it in 18" OR MORE of powder but still heavy sled. Is she an aggressive rider, if she isn't then she won't like it. The harder you ride it the better it performs! Why not a Nytro with a 162" track and Simmons II ski's, this would be a better suited to a lighter rider unless she is an excellent aggressive rider. If you clutch and drop a gear on the Nytro, extend the track and put the CRRacing riser forward set up it is a great sled! Drop some weight and even it's better. In stock form with the above modifications it feels much much easier to ride....... hope this helps some how....LOL.

i really depends on what she is going to ride; trails or trees .....unless it really for you to turbo it later...lol

i do think the nytro is a better choice just because it 50 pounds less to start....dont worry you can turbo that also.

i does look like the track is stiffer on the 09's vs the 08's same maverick design but diffrent rubber compound.

Very good point and i agree 100%. Not a good "wife" sled unless she is one heck of a rider! Eric

She is a New rider. I rented a nytro for her to ride last year and she hated it. was too tippy and squirly (SP?) for her to enjoy it. I actually rode it instead and she rode my Summit 1000 for the rest of the day. Thats actually why im buying a TNytro as soon as our dealer gets one in. Id like to keep her with a 4 stroke for reliability. I thought a nytro would be perfect for her as well but it wasnt. Granted if setup right i think she would love it. BUT she is a woman and has made her mind that she did not like it soo im not even going to try to change it. She did like my fathers 01 Mountain Max so figured an apex would be next best thing. maybe a little more stable. She only rides the trail and sometimes gets off in a powder bowl to screw around but thats about it. What brought this on is seeing that 1 2007 for $6600. Dont think i can really pass that one up. But i havent ridden an apex either just the nytro.

get her a vector... you can pick those up for well under $6k

A Vector would be a great choice. The narrower engine makes it handle mucher better and feel lighter than an RX1. The gyroscopic effect of a wide engine is really noticeable when you hop off an RX1 and onto a Vector.

my mother rides a vector 2up and she really likes it its very stable and smooth riding. a vector mtn possibly? and if she still thinks its tippy get the wide a arms and she would be good to go.

Vector Mtn 151 would be perfect has 15 wide track. 06+ has a better seat and handle bar riser. If it's an 05 just

Vector Mtn SE 162 if you feel she will advance quickly.

I bought a apex for my wife in 06 and she hated it so I ended up with it and now it has boost and I love it. So if you what to work that angle it could work out well for you. Once you rode it with boost you would never ride your doo agian.

Put the gen 2 skis on anything and it will be way more stable.

The 16 wide on the apex was a real bone for my girlfriend on of camber situations she decided she liked my RX1 way better with the 15 wide (so did I)

The Apex is a way more stabile platform but the 16 wide is hard to deal with when you have light riders .

Go Gen 2 skis 15 wide camo extreme 2 wheel kit on the back.

This will give here the stability on the frond end and turning ability in powder on the back.

All in all the Apex is a awesome sled with a few light weight mods she will be very happy.

If the choice is between the Apex and Vector i would get her the Apex for sure. It is better balanced and fuel injected. There was a Apex on here for 6500 bucks new in Utah somewhere. Do a search. I had both the Vector SE and Apex and my wife liked the Apex way more. She rides a XP now.
