Anyone used Simmon's GenII skis?

What do you all think of the "Clown Shoes"? Are they the future? Especially on an older Summit 800x 144"?

We ride in southern BC. Mostly steep tight treed trails and mountain side clear cuts. Steep and deep.... trails to get there.

Thanks all for your opinions.

Nah.... you'd be better off using them in the summer to wake board....

If you want the sled to turn when you push on the bars, Powder Pros are the only way to go. They float good and will always turn.

simmons gen II's.. best mod for the money for most sleds IMO.. even the gen I's are better than almost any ski's for in the powder

I rode them on a m1000 and thought they were to big and to fat. It seemed to make it harder to turn and side hill. so I dont get it. and i have simmons. Just not the faties

Yeah...unless you have a track longer than 136"....

really.. i havent had a sled under a 136 since I was a kid.. I have tried most ski's out there.. c&a, slp, pilots, simmons, oem stockers, slydogs, etc.. found the simmons to work the best out of all of them in the deep stuff.. This is just a guess on my part, but i would have to say they are the most widely used powder ski on the snow.. IMO

I just got back from my first ride on them - 05 800 rmk 151. I really liked them. Made it feel way smoother in the powder carving. No difference side hilling - pin it and set the ski.

My bro put a set on his 01 800 mod and says he loves em.

I'd buy em again.

I ran them last year on my stock Rev. They deff help with the floatation of the sled in the deep powder, side hilling was very easy and they handled great on the trail.

Great Ski! :D

Personally I think they may be a tad too wide for anything less than a 4 stroke. My suggestion would be to take some of the outside "wing" off with a table saw to make them perform more like a Polaris sidehiller style ski. This should provide quite a bit of flotation over the Gen I's yet keep the outer carbide digging on the shallow snow days.

I witnessed a guy try to sidehill last year and the snow was hard enough he simply rolled the carbide up out of the snow and the front end washed out from under him. With the "wing" to the inside I would think it would be an even better set up. I suppose Polaris has a patent on the configuration so someone will get sued, but oh well.

Simmons gen 1's are trail skis on anything bigger than a 144" or so (136" IMHO). They push a lot in the powder with a decent track. There is no ski that works better in the powder than a powder pro, they won't push period...

Back when I was riding my '03 Escape (159") I had a chance to ride with a friend with an identical '03 Escape, except I had PP's and he had Simmons. After riding my Escape, I think he put the Simmons on his wife's sled and bought a pair of PP's. I didn't like how they wouldn't turn the sled...

Well we have completly different opinions, I personally hated my PP's.. thought they were junk.. didnt float very good at all, and seem to dart really bad on the trail. All of our groups sleds are 159-174" tracks and we all run simmons. As for the push you talk about, Only problem I have is under boost the skis' are never on the snow :D.. For floatation in the powder simmons are the way to go..IMO. but hey what do i know?
