Anyone tried running the 3" track with a chaincase?

I was told if you are going to run a 3" track on an Assault/chaincase, that the front and bottom edge of the chaincase need to be modified in order to create enough clearance to compensate for the smaller 7 tooth drivers. Has anyone out there run a 3" track without modifying the chaincase? I am hoping what I heard is wrong because not really wanting to pull and modify the chaincase.

Mod the chaincase OR Run an Drop and roll from Avid, IceAge or C3

That billet drop & roll from iceage looks killer! Plus then you should be able to stick to 8 tooth drivers.

I ran the ice age billet case for the last 2 years on my 2011 pro. Its freaking sweet!
