Anyone towing with 6.2 Yukon XL

I currently tow with an 08 Duramax and am considering a new "family" rig. Does anyone tow a 5 place enclosed trailer with a Yukon XL with the 6.2? You can get them in a 2500 and you only loose 600 lbs compared to the duramax in weight, so I don't think it would be thrown around by the trailer. Just wondering about pulling power and mileage I guess. I may be crazy, but of course the salesman tells me "NO PROBLEM"!!!

I towed a 20' deck boat across the state with a Denali 6.2
Had to run in 3rd of 5 spd (or 4th if it's a 6 spd?) on any hills of any size.

That motor needs R's to make power.

Who else misses the 8.1?

Perhaps it rolls across the scales legal, but I'd rather eat bees than drive that over an icy windy pass.

That is the definition of "Draggin azz"!

no doubt about it.. that trailer owns that truck.. the owner of the truck ( my friend) was out at the weigh station on the interstate talking with the dot guys and the way the trailer is and how everything is dispersed it is at the limit as for being legal.
he doesnt haul that skytrack around very much and when he does it is short distances' .
i know he is only getting around 4 miles to the gallon also . lol

That is the reason the EPA is coming down so hard on the diesels trucks. They were never ment to tow that much weight I don't care if it is legal or not there is not enough brakes and weight to stop that load in real driving conditions. Anyone who wants to compare 300 horsepower duramax to my 300 horsepower L 10 cumings in my kenworth will lose every time in pulling a heavy load. Most drivers have no business towing that much weight with a pickup just not safe on the road.

I would keep your duramax if your worried about power and fuel mileage while pulling. I think the 6.2 would proably be fine for pulling an enclosed sled trailor, but you proably won't get very mileage.

We tow a 29' enclosed with 5 sleds with a 4 door denali pickup with that motor and 6 speed. It does more than fine. The trailer has no sway control/stabilizer bars so it will move the truck around a bit at interstate speeds with a decent wind. Nothing too bad tho. An we usually get around 7mpg at 70-80mph. Does not like to hold 5th gear so its usually 4th and occasionally 3rd on a hill. That motor likes to rev so no big deal there. Rides great too

i tow a 22' floe open with a front ramp with my denali xl. does just fine. it likes to run 4th or 5th gear with that set up. i am thinking of going to a enclosed v nose...don't know if it'll pull the 4 sled set up though.

amen to the 8.1 option or the diesel option on the xl or sub. i ordered a 2008 yukon xl HD thinking it had nutz like the old ones...think it had the 6.0?

drove it....was horrible, even with the tiny tires. slow, and the MPG gauge was showing 4.5-5mpg around town. i was on a test drive to take it home that day...ended up going home with a regular yukon xl they had on the lot. the new denali is 403hp....nice motor...but bring on the diesel option.
