I’m beginning to think these things lose HP. If not, someone would have a dyno sheet




...i had to add some weight when I added mine. Posting dyno sheets are a risky deal here on snowest. Show some good numbers, and you get jumped on for manipulating the numbers. I know that I needed to add weight to the primary, it lost weight from stock, and it sounds gooooooood!

I am with ya on this ACE--So true.

I was there when Turboal had the thing dynoed afetr testing--they do build HP. But the main design behind these cans is to hold pressure in the pipe so the effiecency stays there at alltitude. These cans work--if they do not work--Al does not sell a can for the sled. He is as honest as the day is long.

Turboal is a guy who truley enjoys what he does everyday!!

Ill second that. I love my THING on my 860, also from AL.
 
That's what stumps me about RK/Kelsey. He says NO CANS! Why would anyone make hot rod parts that work only with the stock MONSTER can? I've read his "reasoning" behind it, but come on! He should tests his heads and 860 kits with one aftermarket can or his own can. I'm interested in his stuff, but I can't get past the "stock can only" thing:confused:
 
To truly understand how the "Thing Can" works it is necessary to know a little about Acoustical Engineering (The behavior of Sound Waves). I am not knowledgable myself about A.E. but I know the "Thing" works off of similar principals as the Bose Wave Radio. If you have ever heard music through one of these then you will believe it can work. Maybe sound wave tuning or tuning with sound waves might be more aplicable? Only Al can answer for sure, but I do know he is seriously interested in helping anyone who is really looking to learn, and with Al it's the product and results not just money!!!! Wish I could comment on the 860R but not for a couple more weeks. rpmbci.
 
my buddy has a thing on his 05 and it sucks, he got it free as a test gig, he now runs an hps, the thing made a dead spot in the mid 6000 range on his stock engine and on his now felker set up engine, it was worse after felker made his mark on the engine, the hps is rulin though. ITS NOT HP NUMBERS OFF THE SHEET, ITS WHAT FEELS THE BEST UNDER LOAD. if you like the way your thing works what does it matter what the dyno sheet says.
 
In the race for hp and weight I would think if you could get more power by changing the can, the manufacturer would put it out. So I change it strictly for the sound change but honestly if you take your aftermarket can and your stock can you will not notice a performance difference . Except for the sound .

The manufacturers by law have to keep it under a certain decibel level. That’s why there is so much foam on the panels and why the suitcase is so heavy.
 
true they doo but if there was a way to get real gains you would see factory "aftermarket" pipes and cans coming from the manufacturers just to make sure they get that edge.
