Anyone seen a 2013 PRO RMK Drive shaft with Two Collars?

My saga with a Frankenstein, beat to hell and poorly reassembled 2013 Pro RMK continues. While pulling the drive shaft I noticed I could not remove it due to a Drive shaft Collar. Upon some investigation there was a big service bulletin and recall on these a while ago.

Has anyone ever seen two collars installed onto the drive shaft? (One on each side of the track) Pulling up as much information as I could, it absolutely seems like this is an abnormality as the collar is only ever supposed to be added to the Quick Drive / Mag side of the drive shaft. I believe this was previously owned by a rental place, any chance they just threw two on there just in case?

Any opinions on if I should leave the Clutch side collar off or slap it back on? I can't really imagine the little bit of extra weight will do anything substantial. Cheers to a good start to the season!

A trip on the Way-Back machine does cause me to remember folks running double collars. Some of the shafts were separating on both ends despite Polaris saying it shouldn't be needed. If it was a rental, time is money so a second collar would have been cheap insurance.

when i was at the dealership polaris sent boxes of those clamps. i would install two as a precaution. before the fix came out from polaris some of the aftermarket folks were selling kits with two in a kit.

Yes there was an upgrade and back in the older pros 12-15.
A aftermarket product come out, It was called called a Happy Face clamp- it was used on the quick drive side, to prevent if the glue failed the drive shaft would stay as it encompassed the hub that failed.
I put the oem ones on the PTO side of the machine and used the Happy Face clamp on the Mag side of the drive shaft.
I never had a failure or thought about it and seen several in stock configuration fail, being towed backwards to the trail head...

With you posting that ........I found in my shop that I still have a new one in the box!!! - but will probably sell it here on the market threads..

I can shoot ya a picture of it if you want to compare it to what you have....

Good to know. I will probably re-install it then for some reliability and peace of mind. Appreciate the advanced forum digging.

I for sure have two of the OEM style ones. The happy face clamp looks like a well engineered fix. Any notable improvement vs the OEM Clamps? It looks more effective but any reduction in failures vs the OEM style ones? Thanks!

I think both collars worked similarly well. The aftermarket one came to market to solve a problem Polaris had yet identified (sound familiar?). Once Polaris started offering them up the demand for the aftermarket declined before a different drive shaft style was available anyway.

The Happy Face clamp is HEAD'S ABOVE the oem clamp- The oem doesn't do anything when the Polaris Lords glue decides to let go. The Happy face will keep the strain off that area where it's glued-and provide more strength to that drive AXLE.
