Anyone put a leg over the Husky 501 FE?

this is huge torque and HP, anyone try on a 137?

One of the guys I ride with has a FE501 with a 2016 ST w/TSS. Another guy has a 2014 KTM 450XCF with a 2016 LT w/TSS.

The FE has plenty of power but revs slower than the XCF.

I only rode the 500 for about 10 minutes, but I prefer the 450 without question.

The low rev limiter on the 500 is annoying and it just doesn't rev like 450.

Not to say it doesn't work, its just different.

Which is too bad, as I feel the 500 is far superior for the technical trails in the summer. Its probably a better multi season off road bike, unless you ride moto in which case the 450 is a win win there.

My buddy has one with a 2016 long track. It works well. Didn't really seem to have the over fueling issues that some of the other bikes had. Sure it doesn't rev as fast or as far as the race bikes, but it felt like it had plenty of grunt, and I think makes a good choice for a snow bike.
That being said, if you're a pretty aggressive rider then you might want a 450.

SX-F or XC-F 450 KTM bikes are what you are after then. They have the stator power to make the accesories run but have the snappy moto powerband and close ratio trans which is king in the snow.

I'm on the Orange version, with a 137 CMX. Got no complaints, but never been on anything else.

Mark from CMX has a video on You Tube of the 500 KTM out climbing a 450 KTM, both with CMX tracks.

Kickstart, e-start, big enough stator, plus 6th gear for the trail.

my understanding was the stator was just big enough to charge the batt and wont run warmers or light?. perhaps I missed something

Well so much for buying the 501!. Is there any KTM that climbs same as the YZ 450 FX ? I guess I could change out the stator to run lights/warmers since none of the performers have the proper electronics.I,m trying to stay with KTM or Husky if possible.

Why not look for a deal on a 2015 Husky FC450? I just got my 2016 FC350 and I could have saved a ton of cash if I had went with the 2015 450 instead. Depending on your area I bet there's a bunch of new in the crates ones to be had. My dealer has a few 250's, 350's and 450's and new in the crate.

There are ECU updates/swaps that can be done on the 501's to get more revs out of it. I don't know how wise it is to do that on the 500's for the purpose of snowbiking since WOT is far longer than any dirt WOT, but I know a couple people who have done it and like it. I will say when overrev'd that 501 sounds like it's about to have a heart attack.
