Anyone NOT riding in the mountains?

Hello everyone and welcome to winter.

I do not have a mountain sled. I have no intentions on getting one but I do have a sweet groomed / non groomed sled (2007 attak).

Just wondering if there is anyone here that is in the same boat and can offer a good riding area in the northish???

I live in Grande Prairie but I am not sure that Big Mt. is ready yet. Also, I would like to know of other areas that can offer some trail / field / tree riding within an hours drive of GP.

Thanks so much.

Some parts of the Saddle Hills just north of Sexsmith are pretty good. Lot's of fields, etc alond the edges, and trails/cutlines all thru the hills. Nothing groomed of course.

I've been riding the trails in the Saddle hills a few times this year with trail and a mountain sled. Pretty good riding and lots of trails...snow stays in the trees pretty good as well so there is more snow in the hills than around G.P. I live in G.P and can be unloaded and riding within the hour. Its certainly not for everyone out there but I enjoy it and its good for the wife and kids.

Is there enough snow in Saddle Hills?? I love the mountains but it cost's a pretty penny to be going all the time. I'd be up for a ride around GP

There is just enough snow there now, but more would be better! I've been in there 3 times and tracks from previous rides are always covered so it is getting better slowly but surely. It is definately cheaper than heading to the mountains every weekend!

Thanks so much. Yes Saddle Hills does make sense for a riding area and I should see if I can make it out that way in the comming weeks.

My sledding is on hold for the moment as I (by mistake) poked a hole in my oil cooler last night trying to change the oil filter.

Ohhh well, too cold anyway........ sigh.
