anyone mounted their tether yet?

Here's how I mounted mine. Same as I did on my 01 mod sled.

The little red button next to the clamp is the electric start button that I installed so I don't have to use the key switch everytime.

Looks Slick Mark, great job!!
Thanks for the idea, just as soon as I get a little time....... I'm about ready to completely give up sleep. That would free up 3 to 4 hours a night I could do something for me!!
I haven't even had time to anything but back 'em into the shop...... sigh.

Please keep the great ideas coming!

I've got to make one more for the 600, so I'll make you two for the Pro's. That'll give ya a little extra time.

i put mine where the others did, easy enought to move from side to side without pulling the thether, notice my new kill switch (gone) won't be shutting it off by accident anymore when the sled bucks climbing a hill.

So what did you do with the throttle safety switch?? Can't tell from the pic weather or not you still have 3 wire housings going into your block.

Beware of snow getting in switch

One word of caution with the Polaris tether...

Mine had a little bit of snow and ice in it and it kept the button down when the tether pull-- the motor was still running.

Wouldn't want to find that out when the throttle was stuck wide open!!!

Tether????plugs??? belt???

Tether was the first thing I saw missing on my"pro" I personally believe it should be factory installed and standard equipment. Secondly, where do the extra plugs go or where are they?? Ditto, they aren't there and there is no place to put them under hood. There is no spare belt on the sled, there is no belly pan. I soon realized while they were putting it together and setting up why they wanted me to visit the parts dept ... to BUY THE REST OF THE MISSING PARTS:face-icon-small-fro:face-icon-small-fro I am so pissed I am seriously thinking of taking it back to the dealer Havent bought a new sled in a while and I cant believe that all of the above was standard on sleds in the 70's and now it is just another high dollar gouge in the pocket. And to ice the cake the first thing I see is a sticker on the harness that says made in CHINA and to think I didnt even look at a skidoo because I wanted to support American workers.

i assume that the three wires left are one for the thumb warmer and two for the safety switch, the kill switch doesn't affect the safety switch. no they aren't going to give you a tether, but they are only about 10 dollars (yeah i know you just spent of 10 grand on a sled, but that's the way it is) the belts are too expensive to give away and if you buy polaris belts you are spending a ton of money, and the belly pan is fairly cheap but then again they aren't going to give you anything anymore. on an up note the dealer installed a belly pan on mine like i asked for and didn't charge me for the belly pan or the installation, just a good dealer can make the difference.

Welcome to 2011, do any of the new sleds come with all these extras?

So I'm installing my aftermarket tether... can someone please tell me if the black open plug was for a stock Poo tether (and if so which wire is positive and negative)? I'd like to splice in to that if I can and avoid chopping up the kill switch wires (which I'm not even sure which are which as there's several wires coming out of the throttle block!

Thanks!

the kill switch is easy to find the wires, they run down the handbars into the hood. follow them down and you'll find two plugs look at the color of the 2 wires coming out of the kill switch and then look under the hood and see which plug has those two wires and unplug it and that's it or splice into them there. yes that black plug is for a tether, assuming there is only one under there, i just found one but didn't look after it worked right away. you'd have to run a test light to figure out which one is ground unless you can see the wires and assume black is ground.

Big thanks to GMCRMK and the others that posted. Installed my tether tonight, the plug that GMCRMK showed in his picture is spot on. I plugged my poo tether into it and fired up the sled, when I yanked the tether it shut right off. Rather than trust the plug, I cut the wires, soldered, and heat shrunk them. I also risked failure and drilled my hole right in the center of the bevel, it turned out great. Thanks again!

P.S. I tried to post a pic of the install but I don't know how to upload from my phone.
