Anyone make their own salt shield/ramps

I have a four place drive on/off trailer. There is a removeable ramp that is used in both the front and back. I get a lot of road debris thrown up on the sleds and was wondering if anyone has made their own salt shield/ramps. I am trying to go low budget here and am trying to find some scrap angle iron, sheet metal to make it with.

Thanks

1" square steel tubing covered in Aluminum checker plate. 18" high keeps the sleds very well protected. Lift out for unloading. If you wanted to to it cheaper, use 1/2" plywood instead of aluminum and paint it.

Did that exact same thing on my dad's older Yacht Club 4-place. Welded pockets under the front ramp "slot" to accept the shields. The outside ski stick over the front of the trailer, so we made a notch in the shield so it would go up over the ski and still be the full width of the trailer. Now you have a shield to take off plus a ramp to move, but it works without buying a new trailer.

I am actually fixing ours currently.
This sucker is all galvenized steel, with some simple electrical conduit galv pipe bent for the frame and simple sheets cut for the face/shield.

We bought the trailer used and the supports for this shield were rusted through, so I am fixing it. They used galvenized for the entire thing except for the supports LOL.

I picked up some galvenized conduit and a harbor freight hydraulic pipe bender

It is almost done I will finish it tomorrow night, I have been taking pictures and I will post them. Heck the trailers require more maintenance then the sleds some weeks....

I don't have any shields in the front. I bought a "Slush Guard" heavy duty canvas tarp that tuck under the skis and goes about halfway up the hood of the sleds. It does a decent job of keeping the debris off the suspension, but it is very messy and kind of a pain to take on/off and bungee back on good. I am leaning towards making a set of hinged ramps/slush guards but I may look at making a removable guard and use the ramp that I currently have.

Any pictures of your home-made setups would be great!!!

Thnks

slush guard

i had my nephew build a set from stainless square tubing, no rusting out, and aluminum diamond plate. i mounted them to the front frame with steel piano hinge. if you want, pm me and i will send pictues to your e-mail.
