European?

A coworker just told me about this 300cc two stroke BETA that he just picked up.

What do you guys know about them?

Randy Siemens (mtn-doo) has built a Beta snowbike. If I remember it ran decent but was more of a pain in the a$$ to setup than the KTMs. Shoot him a message if you have questions.

I'm sorry Scott.... Randy built a GasGas.... not a Beta. He would still be a good source of information on the subject.

I bought a beta 450rr last year, had 1 issue with it took it back got fixed and seems good. I was on a 06 yz 450 so that bike was done so anyting is a improvemet, I just wanted electric start cuz in the winter kicking a bike in the cold gets annoying. I am having trouble finding out about mounting a TS to one but literally just this morning Extreme Motorsports in Montana gave me some hope so I ordered my 16 TS kit today

beta

the one you pictured is the x trainer, a cool trials / enduro hybrid, kinda like the ktm freeride not high performance for a snowbike application, but cool for a low seat height summer bike. A friend of mine has a beta 300rr (the race edition) smoker and loves it in summer, its not really a powerhouse just a light nimble tourquey bike. My opinion is these purpose built singletrack / enduro bikes are awesome for summer but don't really pack the punch needed for snow.

I own a 300rr race version, best bike I have owned for the dirt , and yes I still have 2 300 KTM's also!

I have not ridden the xtrainer but I had a beta 250 and 300RR, both are exceptional bikes. The KTM takes high revs but for bush riding the beta motor is wicked! Beta is the largest trials company in the world and their motors are sick! The 250 and 300 are very similar to the ktm's, the other thing that is different on the beta is the pages are a tad higher so on long decants when your standing(as you should be) legs feel it a bit more since you are in a more crouched position. Beta parts are not harder to come by as these two strokes are similar across the board and in fact sometimes it is harder finding ktm parts as they sell out, where as beta does not , yet. I ride a ktm 200 now as well as the freeride. The strainer above will be similar to the freeride and they are a blast, especially in coastal bc where it is tight and sloppy.

The beta 250RR or 300RR would be awesome snow bikes but as said above the strainer would not be.... here are some vids on testing the beta, the freeride and a yz250 snow bike

freeride

Here is a 450 and 500 ktm and shot from 250 yz 2 stroke

We have some of that in the snowies but there's water in the bottom!and the super motard Vid is way cool talk about road rash!

Betas are a high end Italian made bike, very popular in Europe and elsewhere but not quite as well known in the states.
Excellent enduro and trials bikes.
I have a 2014 450 RR and love it . No issues at all
The 300 two stroke looks like fun too

Just picked up xtrainer for my wife and spent some time on it... Great bike for the super tech and shorter peeps... Starter blows the Ktms out of the water... I own both... You do not want it as a snowbike though ... It is way too tame... As stated I went ahead and ordered many wear item parts because they do take a second to get... But if you are 160 or below it could be a heLl of a ride with wheels..

I bought a 2015 300RR early this spring. Love it on the local single track I ride. I dont plan to put it on snow, I love my 450 SX there. FYI, there is a Beta dealer in Moscow Idaho. Not sure where in West Montana you are, but he's a great guy to deal with, and he has a new 300 on his showroom now.
