Anyone here build a cheap dirt track car?

As the title says, does anyone have any experience with building a cheap stock class car? I'm talking knock out the glass, gut the insides and weld in a cage. Throw in a 5 point harness and go racing!

Seems like you can get into it pretty cheap, and it might be pretty fun. Out here on maui we have a small track with some guys looking for more racers...most of them don't even drift in the corners yet

We do it cheaper, $500 max. 4 cylinder or less. Stock seatbelt with neckbrace and helmet, no roll cage required. We call it a bump and rub. Last year I ran a $350 geo storm that I bought two hours before the race, which is barely enough time to knock out the glass. Have to be a town resident to enter, gets pretty bloody.
