Anyone have trouble with 08 D8 motor mounts?

Both my friends 08s had their motor mounts break. What is the fix for this?

normally they break the stock left frt motor mount bolt...which allows alot of movement which if left causes the other mounts to fail..replacing the left frt mount bolt with a grade 8 bolt seems to solve the problem.....

Rubber bit or aluminum bits breaking? If it's rubber, the use the 07 700 Dragon, bolt, front mount and nut plate. If it's the cast plate on the the RH side of the engine, well, not much to help there - maybe billet? Maybe a .100 piece of steel plate from the front engine attach bolt up to the engine mount and then take the .100 washer off of that mount.

When I took my 09 for the 10 update the dealership called me and said I had a broken motor mount. they asked me if i wanted them to fix it, they said they were already in there so it wasnt going to be a big deal. they ended up charging me just over $200 to fix it. I went down and argued with them for half hour on the deal but they wouldnt budge. So after I had to buy the slp can for the 10 update and fix the motor mount (just out of warranty) the trip cost me over $400. Nothing I can do but it feels good to vent that one...

I wonder if Inday Dan has a motor mount plate for the D8 like he does for the older 800's.....

MountainHorse hooked me up with an ARP Bolt from Summit Racing (Part # 615-2500) for the front PTO side mount bolt. I think it is the one to fail first in most cases then causing additional damage as mentioned above. I replaced mine when I turbo'd up last year and no problems yet. They come on a card of five so you can share with your worthy buds.

Here is the LINK to a past thread with pics and all the info you need. Good luck. EW

This issue doesn't just pertain to the 800's. After reading a post on here last season, I checked the left front mount on my D7 and it was history. Replaced it with a Grade 10(longer than the stock one), added locktight and a locknut on the bottom end. No problem since. Got lucky on mine. Pulled the radius rod boot off and was able to reach in and grab the end of the broken bolt(about 3/16" was sticking out) and unscrew it out. Soaked the hole with penetrating oil overnight. Never did find the larger part of the broken bolt until last week. Was shining a light inside the engine compartment and there it was. Been looking for it for the past year. Ya gotta get lucky once in a while. No problems with the other motor mount bolts. I've heard where some guys have had to pull their motors to get the broken bolts out. Try the boot method first. Might save you a lot of time and trouble.
