Anyone have experience with the 6.7 Cummins?

I have a 09 Cummins and wouldn't trade it for the world. I traded a 04 Cummins in on it and difference in power is really noticable. Not to mention the Jake brake is really handy. I am getting in the average of 17 miles a gallon right out of the box. No need to mess with the programming on this one, it will pull stumps in stock configuration.

the 6.7 cummins have the dpf exhaust systems and you cant just add a turbo back exaust to easey you have to but one that is for off road only that removes the dpf system and then you will have to get a programer that can turn then dpf mode off in the stock computer if you do it that way you will turn all kinda lights on in your cluster.
i have an 05 cummins 5.9 cummins and im getting 17 in town and 20-22 on the high way and get 15 pulling a 6500 pound enclosed i have a exhaust chip intake and a fitch fuel catalyst. but the 6.7 is nice i just dont like all the emissions that they have on them. and im sure if you pull the dpf system off your motor and power train warranty is out the window . and yes the exhaust brake is handy but you can buy one and put it on a 5.9 too.
if your looking at a great truck i would look for a 06 or 07 5.9 or a 06.5 to 08 5.9 mega cab you just cant beat the motor and the reliabilty

same as said above, worked and learned about them in school and i will not buy anything diesel over 07 unless some comes up with a crack to all the emmission bull$hit.

and i dont know about glacier rider but they told us in class that normal daily driving is going to burn about a tank of fuel every 2 months for that dpf thingy magig.

if you dont know what the dpf is well then its a filter on the exhaust that traps all the soot, in doing so it gets clogged, to unclog the engine goes into a regen mode that burns extra fuel through the exhaust and creates harmless ash.

I would not buy a new one if its mileage your after. I have 2 04's that consistently get 24 on avg. 18-20 pulling a enclosed construction full of tools. We also have a 07 megacab it get 16.5 on its best day with a tail wind. The 04 was the last year with no cat and other emissions BS. If I were going to bomb one the 04's were easy.

Here a link to all the cummins info you will ever need..

I find it hard to believe a 6.7 getting 17 on anythin but highway out of the box, the 5.9s are as good as it gets for mileage. You can get a tune and dpf delete and get close but alot more hassle. I wouldn't mind an 07 with a 5.9 even tho I'm ford guy.

Sounds too me your the only one that owns the 6.7 thats posted up, and you say its a great truck. Id go with this opinion soo far Homeslice. A manager at one of our shops has an 09 QC LB 3500, loves it! No DPF delete or nothing, hauls some massive camper with it.

I wouldnt worry too much about the powertrain warranty though, just throw 5inch turbo back and the Edge programmer and hang on. (The 6 speeds sweet too)

Besides, its a Cummins.. Only things wrong with it is the truck built around it...

My 08 is my daily driver. I figure out mileage everytime I fill up and it's consistently 15mpg. It's stock except for 35" Nittos on 22 inch rims. I really didn't notice any change when I put those on. That being said, it's the best pulling rig I've ever had. Jake brake is awesome. Pulled a 10,000lb trailer up the Alcan in winter like it wasn't there. It burns some fuel, but it's worth it.

When did Nitto start selling a 35" tire for 22's? They didnt last year and there website still does not list one!

IMO one of the biggest advantages of getting the 6.7 is the 6 speed tranny. Unless one goes with a manual the old 4-speed auto is Junk. I know they can be built up well but in stock config.....:face-icon-small-sho

I had an 05' cummins for about 4 months before trading it in.

Dodgie

I drive an 08 Qcab 4X4 Dually with the 6.7. Stock the milage sucked getting about 13mpg and the duals definatly don't help. 2500$ later(5"tbe; xrt programer; fitch catalyst; WCC/Shibbyman intake; etc) I now get 17.5mpg and can yard the hitch off most anything. Really like the truck and it's awsome in front of a trailer. More poop than any big block truck I've driven and I added propane injection sense the last milage check so that should improve it more. Buy the truck. My 2c.

I think I might have bought your truck... 07.5 Blue Megacab with 10k miles?

Bought it from Anchorage Chrysler Center, Got 16mpg back to Fairbanks, it runs way better than my 07 Ford Powerstroke.

You should definitely buy one like it!
