Anyone have any of that Castle X gear? How does it compare to Klim?

I was looking at First Place Parts' link on here and was looking at some of those Castle X "Pinned" coats ....

My current sledding coat is 11 years old, so I wouldn't mind getting a new one this year, and those Castle X ones actually look pretty cool...

BUT

How warm are they? I want a deep winter coat, not a spring coat ....It's gotta be warm. How does it compare to a Klim Valdez?

I know it's like 1/2 the price, but still, for all practical purposes, is it warm and will it hold up to riding in the trees well enough? :)

I had a Castle Switch jacket liked the jacket but the zipper went to hell after 2 years.

My fiance bought me a KLIM jacket and I personally like it better then the Castle jacket and I really liked my Castle besides the zipper issue.

i ride with castle pants, never get cold, waterproofing aint as good as climb, but they are SOLID as can be.. but i spend so much time digging, being stuck, cuttind down trees, its hard to say what works good then!!

good stuff for the $$

I have the night mare switch jacket and pants. Just got the pant. But used the jacket all of last season. Just love it. Wore it with the liner once, took it out and only put it back in to ride at -30C. Anything over -25C and I take the liner out. I ride pretty hard, but who doesn't? It's warm. Warmth is no issue. And very strong gear as well. The only thing I can see breaking is the zipper, and even that I have a hard time believing would happen. It's huge.

Layers

Sorry I cant comment on a comparison between the two, although I do wear a Valdeze I wouldn't buy that model for warmth (personaly). I would only suggest that you think of going with a good base layer, mid layer, outer layer. unless you have the coin to change jackets everytime your out of your comfort range. I ride most days w/just a base layer on and put on a fleece vest for colder days or a cooler base on for warmer ones, I find that layering gets me through a wider range with one good outer layer. Good luck to you wichever way you go, I will also add that I cringed once when I shelled out the coin for the Valdeze and I'm very happy every time I put it on, there's no substitute for good gear.

Both my kids wear the Castle X stuff...my oldest just got the Nightmare Jacket last winter and he loves it. He told me he's never had anything keep him so warm....and they are sharp looking as well! My 8 year old has the full set....it's great to see some cool gear out there for kids! Not only are they both warm....they look good too! ;)
