Anyone have a whirring metallic like sound from their Pro?

I have had a metallic whirring sound, almost like a supercharger sound coming from my Pro. Dealer says they don't know what it is but acknowledges it. If I apply the brakes it seems to stop until back under acceleration. I have about 80 miles and can't see anything rubbing on clutch and there doesn't seem to be any drag on the brake disc. Anyone have this with theirs? I love, love this sled. Makes my 09 XP(which I still have) seem awkward off the trail.

p.s. my oil line was fine with no rubbing.

that metal plate on the exhaust side, side panel has been rubbing on the muffler, if it is you'll see the marks on both, i've seen that on quite a few pros so far. i removed the plate and foam and covered the panel with heat tape. also the type of brake on the pro with the holes in it and non circle design have been making noise as well. just somewhere to start, hope it helps.

If i'm thinking of the same thing you are... To me, mine sounds like chain whining... thats my guess. check your chain tension..?

I reset the chain tension and that wasn't it. I'll check the exhaust rubbing but the sound is definitely not that. It does it cold so it isn't the clutches.

whirring noise

Check the motor mount behind the primary clutch. The bolt may be backing out.f

Do you hear the sound after you have had the park brake on for a while? Mine seems to only do it after I unload it from the sled deck and have had the park brake on....seems like I only get the noise for about 10 minutes of inititial riding then it goes away. If I dont leave the park brake on while its out in the cold, travelling on the deck I dont get the noise. Never happens when I ride directly from my garage.

Probably the brake disk... when you hear it, drag the brake a little bit and see if it goes away... if so, it's the brake disk. They are grooved and can make some noise.

It's the brake due to the new design. I've got the same noise. Most noticeable acellerating on the trail.

i wonder if polaris will come out with an update for this issue. Sounds like many are complaining about it.

Complain about what? A high performance wave rotor attached to a hollow jack shaft with an extra small caliper, to save a bunch of weight? :face-icon-small-con Sounds like some people need to trade there Pro's in for a 2 seater arctic cat with remote start.

Just pretend you have a supercharger. Doesn't it sound so cool.

It does! And then the stock exhaust flutters a bit when you let off... kinda sounds like a well tuned low boost blow off... Reminds me of my old LB7 ... good times :face-icon-small-hap

One in our group hear the same strange sound from his standard RMK. That make me think it's something else than the brake disc. Just my .02.

According to Polaris... The noise you are hearing is the air whistling through the new brake disk on the pro. The holes are creating a whistle. You should not not hear this on the regular RMK.
I think it sounds cool.

Brake disc, problem will go away if you break in your brakes purposefully.

Problem may come back if you remove and replace your caliper for any reason, and do not get it absolutely back to the original position, as it is located by simple overbored bolt -ways.

Just cycle brakes a few time while at medium speed, mid throttle, burn 'em in

I rode in a De Haviland Twin Otter, while they "Fast-Taxied" down the runway and repeadetly came to quicl almost complete stops, and sparks flew everywhere as they used semi-metallic pads.

Bikes, cars and boats all benefit from seating your pads to your rotors.....
