Anyone have a reason for me to go MCX instead of the new PG Impulse kit?

I sold my Tapex and am merging over to the Nytro this year. I'm pretty sold on the new PG Impulse kit running 17lbs. Only thing I don't like is the fact that their is no Impulse dealers close to me, I would probably make the drive and have Paul install it himself or wait for submission to prove themselves in Alberta. I'm not aware of anyone else working with the impulse kit here in BC. I havent heard anyone raving about their MCX kit like I have with the impulse kits so Im having a hard time deciding to go that route. Anyone care to chime in?:beer;:beer;

Might want to decide fast. I just ordered my IMPULSE tapex kit and he had about 100 tnytro pg kits on order. Sounds like the way to go.

Yea I would jump on the Impulse kit. You should give Paul a call I know he has more dealers installing them than what is shown on his website. I have my Tapex kit on order as well and he is gearing up for lots of kits beginning in September. He said once end of September first part of October hits he will be going like crazy to get everything shipped to people and respective dealers that have all placed orders.

Great guy to talk to, and I am sure he will answer any questions you have. So far he has been great to deal with.

You will like the impulse kit better. I ran an MCX kit for 2 years on a nytro and am currently building a new impulse nytro. GO WITH THE IMPULSE KIT!!!!!!!!!!. I had nothing but problems with MCX.
Hears another thing to think about. Last years Impulse kit at 12 lbs ran as good as my MCX kit at 17 lbs. ;).

Some of the guys are having good luck with the MCX kits. If you go the MCX route,#1 watch out for the charge tube taking out the vavle cover gasket. IT WILL HAPPEN. #2. You WILL have header problems.

Dont really mean to bash on MCX, But I hated mine:o

There will be a dealer doing installs and sales for Impulse here in B.C and that will be in 100 mile house, new young owner coming into play and everyone in the turbo game knows him. And Submission motor sports in Alb. Both will do quality work.They wouldnt get to be a dealer if Paul thought they were incompetent, so no need to worry about going to Utah.

All my MCX kits have been awesome. Reliable and great power, what more do I want? Only had one Nytro valve cover gasket pushed in, it's real easy to eliminate the problem when you do the install now that you are aware of it. All the turbos will supply the needed boost and as long as you have a good fuel mgmt system to go along with it, should be good to go. Go with something you can get help with if you need it ;) Boost rocks :D

I tried to ignore some of these statements, but it's really eating at me. I'm not going to tell you that one kit is leaps and bounds above another, but here's my experience: I installed and put 1400 miles on an mxc nytro kit last year. I added the upgraded fuel system to run 17 lbs. I did have some issues with the header cracking, but other than that, I was tickled with the reliability and awesome power of the MCX kit. I can assure you that no nytro on 12 lbs will outrun a properly built MCX nytro at 17 lbs, considering everything else is kept equal. It wouldn't even be close. You are right about the header and valve cover gasket, but overall the MCX kit runs consistent, doesn't require any tinkering with fuel settings, and makes very good power at 15-17 lbs. When I first bought the kit, I got on snowest and started reading up on the different kits and came to the conclusion that my mcx was going to be the slowest turbo nytro on the hill. It was not! It was usually one of the cleanest and most impressive ones. There are lots of good kits out there and I feel that the new Impulse kit is going to be one of the best. Paul is a great guy and has great customer service. If I build another nytro, I'll probably use his kit. I just don't want people to read this and get a false opinion of MCX. As with any kit, install and setup are key.

I agree with you Viper, a 12 lb impulse kit should not be beating a 17 lb MCX kit. BUT THEY DO!!!!!!! The impulse pulls just as hard on the top and is leaps and bounds better on the bottom end. :beer;

Impulse... hands down.

How would you like to jump in your turbo diesel and have to adjust fuel controls?

Hop on and go... that's the shiznit! :beer;

Too bad it's the middle of August and not February! The only way I would believe this, is to see it in person. Hopefully we can meet up in person next winter for a friendly match of 12 vs 17 lbs. Sounds like Blair is going to need to do some tuning on his new (your old) sled. I hope we can make it run as good as mine. Again, I really like the Impulse kit and the company and will probably use one on my next build, but I surely won't expect it to make the same power at 12 lbs as my current setup at 17 lbs.

hey guys, thanx guys! Yes we will be doing turbo builds/installs on Arctic Cat and Yamaha. I previously worked at Alpine for 2 1/2 years and before that worked with Chad at CR Racing. We are currently going through the paper work stages of purchasing our own shop. Hopefully by september we will have all our ducks in row. I have gotten to know Paul from impulse quite well and he is awesome to deal with and very smart... his new pump gas kit with a stand alone fuel system is going to be awesome. Rode it for 4 days in the spring testing with Paul and the sled ran flawless.
We currently hold a great working relantionship with Alpine Motor Sports and Dean and Julian. My wife Kristina and I thought we would get out there and try somthing of our own. We all love to get out there and have a great time. Give us a call anytime for some info 250-395-2366 or 250-644-6607.
