hey guys i am looking into an 03 Dodge 1500 5.7 Hemi and was wondering if i should know anything about them. seems like a really nicce truck compared to my half ton GMC with 193k on it! got 22mpg on the hwy and only has 83k on it. they want 15,995...sound like a good deal??? if anyone has experience with these trucks i would really appreciate some input before i really get into this. thanks alot!

I bought my '04 over 6 months ago for $15,500 + tax with 57k miles on it. Most others with the same miles and equipment were going for 17K. The only things that mine doesn't have are Nav. and leather. Oh yeah, forget getting mileage in the 20's, it's not going to happen.

20-22 is what the computer was tellin me.....also has rear air susp. that was their base price though. im gunna see what i can get them down to tomorrow....

20's with the 5.7 in a pickup.......I think the computer is broke. Our Durango is getting 18 on average with the 5.7 w/ MDS (where it will run on 4 cylinders).

friends with the 5.7 hemi get a whopping 7-8 mpg pulling an open 4 place..even driving easy I have heard several say 12-14 mpg.....I think I would stick with the chevy...go look at new trucks ..fords advertising over 10 grand off..chevy close to the same ..half ton's going new out the door for about 17 grand.........

Really nice truck but you can get a new one for not much more. New half ton dodges up here at dave smiths are almost $14k off. Pretty much giving them away. I get about 18 with mine if you drive it good.

True. Even my old f250 1976 390 this is the mileage. Don,t watch your comp. for mileage.

Best i saw in mine was 17 MPG and i was driveing nice. Sold it cause the steering rack went out did some research and found out is was a common thing when it gets really cold. Did not feel like throwing $800 every winter. But other then that I really liked the pick up.

with any KID driving the Hemi, my guess is 7-8mpg:)
with anyone actually. LOL! how the h$ll did u get 20-22 with the GMC
don't do it Hayden...

I had an 03 quad cab with the hemi for about two years......I never saw over 14.5 on the freeway with a tail wind.

Around town daily driving you can expect 10-11, and I don't care what the computer says.....Mine only had the average MPG, It didn't give instantaneous... they don't want you to know what that is.....Overall, I had zero issues with the truck, very solid choice.... if you can live with it's thirst

I just made a 800 mile round trip with my 00 F250 with the 7.3L, the comp says I got 31.8mpg. I'm looking for something new, just because I drive a lot and it's time for some new looks in the garage, wanna buy it?????

my brother has an 04, rock solid truck so far with about 65k on it... the early build 03's had a few incidents of popping valve seats outta the heads, but they fixed it later on in the run and for the rest... great motor/trans combo imho, a bit thirsty, but a good truck... only thing that kep me from getting one was the smallish quad cab (I had 3 kids in car seats at the time)... best upgrade you can make is to replace the stock oem shocks with a set of bilsteins... i'd reccomend anyone to do that even on a brand new one, the stock ram shocks just SUCK beyond words...

Good truck if it was cared for. Don't expect it to get over 15mpg on the hiway (assuming Q/C, 4wd). My boss had a '03. Put about 130k mi on it, relatively trouble free, no major repairs.
Wayyyy to expensive though!
I've got a CC, 4wd Duramax with 8k more miles than the Hemi you're looking at. Guaranteed to be in as good or better shape, and I'd take $17k for it if someone would buy it.:(
