Anyone getting Mac OS-X snow leopard?

Thinking of the upgrade, but not sure if the family pack would work for friend's systems.

Looks like some good aps, I guess it is like 10 bucks if you bought after june 10.

Not just no, but hell no.

I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of the iPod and iPhone. I hate the "required" upgrades that Apple is forcing down my throat with those two pieces of hardware. If I don't want to upgrade, I shouldn't be required to.

I miss the days of OS9 and iTunes v2.0 If I want to watch videos, I have quicktime. I don't need my music library catalogued by Spotlight, I can search in iTunes instead of in Finder if I need to find a certain track.

And Dashboard? What a waste of processing power that was.......

wow, someone misses their PC!

I'll but paying the $29 upgrade fee to update my mac to Snow Leopard. I really don't know why other than I want the latest and greatest.

As for the updates, you don't have to do them. You have to option to not upgrade but in the software world, things change fast. So you can stay behind but you will be in obsolete software. Also, there are bug fixes that you will want. Are you just upset because you don't like going through the routine?

LRN2READ. OS9 is not the same as Windows.

ORLY? Some updates can be avoided, like periodic Quicktime updates; others cannot. Case in point, being forced to update to newer iTunes with iPhone just to be able to connect to it. I've regretted being caught up in the hoopla over the iPhone since the second month of ownership, but I'm not about to pay the extra money to get out of the contract.

My point with this is merely; all hardware peripherals should be reverse compatible.

Are you just upset because you don't like going through the routine?
Not in the least. The "routine" merely consists of going through Software Update and reading through all the release notes to see if your system actually needs it. But seriously, has OSX become so flawed that they need this many updates? The reason I switched to Mac in the first place was to try and get away from all the updates....

Trust me, I'm familar with the differences. It was a joking because so many Mac users think their system is so superior to the PC. I have both and and use both.

Yep running it and loving it.. The time machine is the best feature! No more worring bout losing files, pics, music etc.

I did experience one problem, when I updated to it my mac went into a reboot loop. Had to call tech on this one and spent over an hour but they figured it out. Btw, UNLIKE Microsoft they not once said. "whats your credit card# for this support" and I was speaking to a ENGLISHspeaking support guy.

I'll get it when i get a new computer... i'm happy on 10.4.whateverthehellimonnow. It works, don't feel like breaking some softwares just to run the latest op sys.

Kinda been tossing around the purchase of a netbook and using a decent Mac as a terminal server... disposable laptop to a kickass desktop.
