Heard about this on the local radio the other day. As if snowmobiliers didn't have enough bad press, now we've got **** like this happening in the BC backcountry:

Unbelievable. 1/2 the people already think you're an assshole if you own a sled, and the other 1/2 think you're an idiot with a death wish. Now I guess we can add "dumbfvck redneck who attempts murder in the middle of nowhere." What a joke.

Anyways, given how many Albertans are on this site, maybe someone knows this prick. Either turn him in, or if you're too chicken ****, maybe you should stay home and ride in your cattle fields. No offense to 99% of you guys, of course, just on the off chance that this POS or his buddies troll this site.

Are you fawkin serious? Get a life. This was a hate crime, but it has nothing to do with where the guy is from. It sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder towards albertans. Ive lived a few different places and I can tell you there are douchebags everywhere. So get off your high horse. They guy could just as easily have been from BC.

I had the exact same reaction when i read this. any press for our sport right now is bad press....and this is about as bad as it gets. lets give all those desk jockies on the coast more reason to regualte our sport!!!! we have it hard enough as it is, never mind if people are doing stupid **** like this.

No high horse, got tons of friends both from and living in AB. Like I said if you read my entire post.....IF you know him and don't turn him in and support this kind of behavior/image and what it reflects on our sport......you're not welcome here in my opinion. That (of course) leaves out 99.99% of anyone.....the only thing that has to do with "where he's from" is that someone from that area would have a better chance of knowing the guy.

This is one side of the story, and from the losing end. Maybe the guys foot ended up somewhere it didn't belong. There are many 'cards' that end up getting played across many areas. Not trying to defend what happened as there appears to have been a physical assault or at least excessive force. But it could have been a case the guy took a header into a rock or the other guy(partner) with him put the beating on and then they ran with this whole story. The cops don't know what actually happened let alone these people that wrote these articles. I find it odd that the descriptions are fairly vague for being half naked and holding what appears to be several minutes of conversations.
Yes, it very well may have taken place. But from what I read, there is no need for getting the rope out yet.

cant belive some of you guys are trying to justify what this loser redneck did. who cares if theres another side of the story, highly doubt a couple of gay guys are gonna beat the crap out of each other and then make up a story about some sledder doing the damage. regardless of what was said, theres no reason they should have beat him to a pulp. i mean even if a guy pisses me off to a point where its time for a scrap. once hes on the ground im done, my point is proved and ill go my way. but to take it to the next step and beat him senseless is crazy!!!! A$$holes like this deserve to be punished.

I'm not defending nothing. Just saying that in my opinion there is a chance of a whole different situation possible. Nothing has gone to trial. Ever heard of the Salem Witch Trials. Ever see what and how the greenies are managing to get vast areas closed. Ever seen a person kill their own kids claiming that it was someone else that did it. The list can go on and on! If it went down as the articles claim, than hang um up. Not intending to disrespect the original poster, only reminding that people do and will claim things that are horrific and blame things in a different direction than what the truth tells later. I personally prefer to wait presuming guilt, until much more facts are brought to light. I don't have any problem with gay people(daughter is gay), so forget about going down that road.

I hear ya....there is always 2 sides to a story for sure. That said, I can't help think that if the dude had a completely different or innocent version that he would come forward with it to clear his name. I know I would....if you knew (or thought) you were in the right, you'd want to come forth with it to avoid possible legal trouble down the road.

Anyways (not directed at you or anyone in particular), something worth mentioning if you want to vacation in the BC interior: there is a very high likelyhood you will run into hippies, hardcore environmentalists, gays/lesbians, and tons of backcountry skiers/boarders of all types. If you don't intend to play nice (or at least fake it) with a very diverse and wide range of people, maybe it's not the best spot for you. I'm not defending one group or another....just stating what you're likely to find.
 
I wonder if this situation would have been so noticed if the couple were not gay? What if they were husband and wife? Dont hear about that much, but since it was a gay couple look out!
I really dont care about it either way, beating someone up cause they are rope suckers aint cool, but I am equally tired of the gay community getting all the press every time something happens to them.
WTH does a snowmobile have to do with it really? Guy drove off ona seld? What if it had been a truck? I dont see this connection.

So you're saying that if it was a guy and his wife and some random dude showed up and beat the hell out of him, that wouldn't be a big deal? Maybe in other parts of the world....but around here that is pretty damned low and would definetly make news. If he beat him up for no other reason than being gay, is that "extra bad?" I think so....and most of the modern western world would agree with me.

Redneck snowmobilier beats up cross country skier (which is what the dude was doing) in the backcountry and you don't see how that looks bad to the masses via the news media? It's obviosuly not "because he was riding a snowmobile," however, it's just one more thing that hurts the snowmobiling image.....the sport doesn't need that.

It happened, you were not there to see what took place. sure nobody needs an *** woopin like that for no good reason, but your rant is not helping anything.
 
^ Sorry for bringing up a concerning incident, in an area local to me, on a board for a sport and community that I enjoy and support. If you guys think it's a dumb thing to discuss, or that it's funny, that's cool. Just another nail in the coffin when the government tries to stuff new regs down our throats....

Hate to news flash you either but - when humans drink together - male or female, gay or straight someone saying something that pisses one or both off and (*** woopins) can and will take place - means of leaving the scene can be boots, trucks,cars,motorcycles.....ambulance, what ever. That brings bad press to whatever method used - usually then someone pulls out the RedNeck card then starts pointing fingers......and since their opinion is brought to everyones attention - everyone can now drink and play together and the world is a better place.:face-icon-small-coo
 
I never said that if it was a husband and wife, that it would not be a big deal J, just saying that it does not garner the attention that homosexuals get. I am sick of it to the maximum. If someone beats up someone cause they looked at them funny, it is no different than any other situation, no hate crime either! But if you are gay, it is a hatecrime? What if a gay dude grabs yer balz, you goona talk to him or beat hiz azz? I know what I would do. You see, there are situations when gays need a whoopin, just like everyone else, so stop making snomobilers look like gay bashers.
Oh, and one other thing J, what the heck is the connection? I just cant see it anywhere.
