I need a sled for my son but I want a fully capable mountain one that he can grow into, plenty of power but the ability to govern it.

How old is your kid? I think a lot of guys will tell you and old phazer and lt it. I think somebody made a pipe for it for when he gets the hang of it and wants more power.

I built my boys.. 10 now sleds from the Polaris Indys. My boys aren't real tall so the indy works good. the seats are not to high making it easy for them to stand and manover on. Right now they only have 500 fan engines but it makes it real light and that I think is more important than power at this stage of the game.

I agree weight is most important. I was thinking tube chassis supper narrow 136 12' wide track 2 in paddle. I think I described a chain saw LOL!! I guess more like a snow hawk but with two skis.

He is going to be 3, I know he is a little young but just thinking ahead.

Yamaha SnoScoot Long track

Check it out, Yamaha Mountain Scoot 121, http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=253795

http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=246381

Found a SnoScoot that needed a track, cut down a 11/4 track, 121 rails, check out the thread, I feel it is an awesome sled for the kids, we have built 2 now, PM me with any questions if you want. Get the little ones started young so they can dig ya out when they get old enough to ride with you in the steep & deep!!!!!!!

We built a 550f for my son two years ago. Started as a 550f 121. Its lite enough that he could start to throw it around (he was 60lbs when we built it) I wanted a sled that he could ride but also not grow out of in a year. Lots of mods can be done to keep building the sled as he grows in body and ability. Oh and as a bonus i LIKE TO RIDE THIS SLED TOO..

I gotta say the best part of your pics is the fact he is workin on the sled himself. That the coolest. I did the same and now my youngest is a motorhead like none other thats wants to be an engineer.

way cool to see.

Kids sleds

Check out Fabcraft, Mike has built up a couple of 120 into some really nice kid sled for a couple of his customers. Look to build up a 340 polaris sled as kids sled.:face-icon-small-coo

I built 2 Polaris 120's for my 6 and 8 year olds. 98" track, custom skid, modified 170 motors, extroverts, C&A Skiis, high-rise seats, custom handlebars w/heated grips.

I modified my teenage daughters 1993 Polaris 500 EFI by removing the massive seat and installing a Polaris Pro seat and skiis. I will modify the handlebars and rear bumper/tunnel this season.

My friends Arctic Cat 120 has a 115"...ish track, 200cc Honda motor, extroverts, C&A skiis, etc.
