Anyone been directly affected by these zebra muscles?

they are a problem in the great lakes.. they cling all over everything, drainage pipes get clogged, dock posts, boats if you dont use the right paint.
yes, they get into outdrives and impellers.
sucks. need to have them cleaned/flushed out and impellers changed.

Have boat inspections in Colorado now at most of the lakes.
some of the lakes here have them they make sure you dont have any water on your boat at all because during certian times of the year zebra mussels can be microscopic
Here, they have cards to record the amount of water. <2 gal. <5 gal. and another but I didn't see it. They make us lower the outdrives and pull drain plugs when putting in and pulling out. I was suprised that they allow any water, but every time I have lowered my outdrive, more water drains out.
^^^ TRUE, The Great lakes & most inland lakes are now loaded with the damn things. Cant walk into the water anymore w/out shoes or you will cut the crap out of your feet..... Another fine import
