Anybody using the BCA Tracker 3 beacon

I got 10 or 11 years out of my original DTS Tracker beacon so needless to say, I will be sticking with BCA. But I can't decide between the Tracker 2 and the Tracker 3.

I always liked the simplicity of the DTS but the tracker 3 looks impressive. Just wondering if the extras would create confusion in that hectic moment that I hope to not ever go through.

Thoughts? Experience?

i think a tracker 2 might suite you well, maybe couple it with a dozer shovel as well

The tracker 3 is very easy to use. The normal functions click right over easy like the original. The tracker 3 is also small enough where you don't even need to use the shoulder strap. I put mine in my chest pocket and it works great. Much more comfortable that having the shoulder strap chaffing on your neck. Got mine from Blown Motor

I starting wearing mine 3 about two weeks ago.
Don't have enough use to make an informed comment yet though.

My Tracker 2 fits just fine in my Klim Valdez jacket pocket. Probably a great time to buy a used Tracker 2 from folks who have to have the latest and greatest.

I got the tracker 3 the day they were available. I have used it in an avy course and practiced with it.

Key features for tracker 3 over tracker 2:

• Better antennas and better range. It will pick up signal further out than tracker 2. It is .5 meters more accurate than my original tracker. I feel like its actually easier than the original trackers to get into search mode.
• audible beeps for following flux lines make it easy to follow them in. I put my old tracker in the living room and turned on the tracker 3 and gave it to my 2 year old kid. He followed the beeps and was able to find my old tracker. Super easy to use.
• It has much better multiple burial capabilities. You can easily mark multiple burials and lock on to other signals. Ideally you should never have to use this if you follow other "rules", but its there just in case.
• Super small and lightweight. Much more comfortable to wear or fit into pocket.
• The display on the beacon is more user friendly too.

In the heat of the moment you want your beacon search to be under 3 minutes. For me, having the best equipment isn't optional, its mandatory. That's why I upgraded. I highly recommend this beacon.
